I have MS Vista Home Premium and I am experiencing a problem with the display not going to power save mode or screen saver mode for non-administrator accounts. Basically if I login and logout, the screen will power down after a few minutes but if my son's account does the login and logout, the screen will remain on. I have checked the power options in the control panel but I don't see any options that seem applicable (especially based on user roles).

Additional details:
OS: MS Vista Home Premium
Hardware: Lenova 3000 J115 (tower and 19" LCD bundle)

I have two of these and only one exhibits the problem. Any suggestions (other than downgrading to XP)?

Thanks.

I guess I'm confused as to why the OS would care who logged out to determine when to enter power save mode for the monitor. The power save mode should be configured independent of a user profile. I'll take a look at the power configuration on my son's account later today and see if it has any unique settings.

I tried the suggestions and the current settings for my son's login matched those from my admin account. I'll take a look at the registry settings next to see if Vista uses HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and maybe something in there isn't getting picked up.

Look in Control Panel - Personalisation and screensaver settings are in there. Once you have set it in there it should work properly for you.

Log on to your sons account, go to the area where it allows you to change the power option and set it up it under his name, you might have to sign in as an admin to do this (shift+click>run as) good luck
