Vegans don't eat anything of animal origin, including meat, eggs, dairy products and honey. You also have to look for "hidden" animal ingredients like gelatin, whey, casein, etc. That doesn't mean we eat nothing but vegetables, like the poster above said! Vegans eat veggies, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, anything of plant origin. That might not sound like much, but it is... especially when you consider all the meat analogs on the market. A vegan can even have a "chili cheeseburger" if she really wants to!
Yes, there is vegan ice cream. One I just tried (and loved!) is called Purely Decadent by a company that has turtles in the name (sorry, I already threw the container out.) I tried the chocolate obsession flavor and it was awesome!

When you are a vegan you eat no meat or animal byproducts meaning milk, eggs, and cheese. You can eat some candies, but most have either milk or gelatin in it. The common candies that has gelatin, (which comes from animals) in it are: starburst, skittles, marshmallows, and rice crispy treats. They do make vegan ice cream. You can get it at any Whole Food Store or if you don't have that in your area you can order it online, or find it at a local store. They make vegan everything: butter, milk, chicken, hamburgers, bacon, scallops, you name it they have it.I have been a vegetarian for a couple of years and went vegan a couple of months ago. It's great i have low blood pressure, and im not overwieght!!!

What vegans avoid that vegetarians don't: dairy, eggs, honey, beeswax, propolis, royal jelly, silk, wool, leather.
Check out "Skinny *****" by Kim Barnouin and Rory Friedman for information about veganism, as well as a section of vegan packaged foods. Still, read the label, as companies do change formulations.
And yes, there's plenty of vegan ice cream avaialble. Turtle Mountain makes Purely Decadent and So Delicious. There's Soy Dream and Rice Dream. There's a company called Temptation, based in Chicago, that uses dedicated dairy- and nut-free machinery. And if you like chocolate syrup, check out Ah-Laska syrup. There's even a soy whipped cream called Soyatoo.

You have to decide how "vegan" you want to be.
If its for health reasons (since vegan has much more energy for people), or if its for moral reasons.
If you want to get real strict with it, you can't eat anything that comes from any part of an animal or anything that is made with any part of an animal.
That means things like Jello or pudding (that contain gelatin) are out, since gelatin is usually made from animals.
But being fanatical about anything is limiting.
I am vegetarian, so I don't eat anything that had parents.
But I will eat cheese on occasion, as well as ice cream.
Its a matter of what is right for you, what feels right, what works for you. Don't worry so much about the "rules" as about the results.

Yes, there is vegan ice cream, and even vegan marshmallows. Check out www.goveg.com
No Honey, Fish, Dairy, Eggs, Cheese....
Make sure you read up on nutrition because it can be a very time-consuming and difficult transition.
Good luck! You are a humane and compassionate person!

Try Whole Foods, they probably have vegan stuff there. I don't think ice cream can be considered ice cream without being based from milk. I guess there might be a soy-variation out there but....YUCK, man.
I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would be a vegan in the first place...nor could I live without eating meat. But hey, that's just me.....love my meat, I do!

"so delicious" is vegan and amazing
my favorite flavor is peanut butter zig zag.
If you're going to be vegan and you don't want to cook everything from scratch or only buy things labeled "vegan" you just need to get into the habit of reading ingredient lists before you buy things.
