In evenings when the temp. falls down from 29 degree cels. to 28 or less I start yawning repeatedly. The frequency is 15 or more yawns per 10 minutes. This lasts for nearly one hour, making my jaw joints painful. The period of yawning is more when I am outdoors.I could not understand the reason. Some friends say that since I smoke , my lungs crave for more oxygen.Others thought that when the temperature drops, whatever CO 2 has risen up due to heat, during the day comes down to earth level, resulting in reducing the ratio of oxygen. But then yawning effect should cover every one. Will any one kindly explain it ?

I think you do need more oxygen as well. Is your home well ventilated as well? With being in for the winter months, depending on your location, the home is closed up due to cold weather.. if you are northern.. Montana, Dakotas, MN, Iowa, you get the 'drift'. Do you have a CO2 monitor available as well? If you are a smoker, another reason to slow down to quit is now... with the yawning, O2 is obviously not reaching the lungs and the brain.. the effect is an involuntary reaction..yawning... the body automatically kicks in and takes over to replentish the lack...
So, open a window, dress warmly and stop smoking!!!

Good luck in your decision.

your friend was right! your lungs is craving for an oxygen... people yawn because they are lack of oxygen.... or maybe your hungry...because it is also oneof the manifestation why people yawn... not only because they are somnolent.
