rights? compassion? Does DNA care about either? All living things exist to pass DNA on to another generation. Whatever does it the most efficiently and effectively wins and gets to make more of itself. Everything else is sentimentality.

Why yes, I do. It's part of why I became vegetarian, then vegan.

Edit to add: to the person who says we should put animals on the back burner until all the human rights issues are solved... what makes you think that our compassion is directed ONLY towards animals? And how does my eschewing animal products prevent me in any way from working for humanitarian causes? You're asuming that the two are mutually exclusive and you're mistaken.

yes but in the non utilization of them just the humane treatment . A butchtered hog doesn't suffer as much as had it died of old age if humanely performed . One must seperate sh!t from shinola when it comes to compassion for animals .

Yes, I do. All humans do to some degree. It's what sets us apart from the savage beast.

I am a vegetarian for many reasons and the fact that it's disgusting and WRONG to slaughter animals for food when they are not good for our health is one of them.

If we were meant to eat animals it would not make us sick to watch them being butchered and seeing a cute little bunny or a widdle kitty would make use salivate and want to kill them, not pet them.

Of course! From my experience, the only people who aren't at least vegetarians (I'm a vegan) are either saying "I could never give up steak!" as a poor excuse, or simply don't realize the terrible conditions these animals are living in! Take egg-laying hens for example, they are kept in cramped pens and are starved.

Why must we stubbornly keep our eyes shut and remain ignorant?

Definitely! If I didn't I would have been eating animals for the past 7 years. Except at some point I think I would catch on to the nasty stuff they inject in them and "given" it up then.

That's a nobel calling but an immediate an sane resonable concern should be for the lives of innocent people who are being massacred all over the worl in the name of democracy.

The animals should be put on the back burner until women and children wha are being raped and murdered can feel safe here in the 21st century.

My apologies to anyone who is offended, if you have a fixation on furry creatures and put their welfare above that of humanity I assume you have a mental disorder. or at least a lack of compassion, and grasp of realistic thinking

Cluster Bombs still allover the Peaceful land of Laos also Iraq,Lebanon,Serbia,Croatia and so many other places where children are killed daily, hourly. People denied water food and sanitary conditions. Starvation in a wealthy world.

I see you all are not happy with my answer but see my point and look at the big picture. Put people first

If I am killing food I kill it as quickly and painlessly as possible. Stessed animals taste funny, much better if they die before they can struggle.
