I've been diagnosed with hypoglycemia for 2 months and I have a dr. appointment in the morning because I can't control it. I had two sevier cases fo hypo in a 14 hour time frame on friday. my questions are: what do you think he will do? who might he refer me too? what test might he do? I'm trying to eat 6 meals a day I'm very healthy I'm just really scared I'm going to get diabeties. I've done reasearch on it. another thing that's compacating it is I'm a competive swimmer. I swim 3 hours a day followed by a 1 hour of intence drylands. Its really very hard core and physically demanding. plus school stress. I just don't know what else to do? I'm sixteen

thanks

You should record you diet, including exact quantities of each food time eaten, when you exercise and times that you do. I suspect your doctor will need to put you on a diet that matches you activity. Let the doctor decide what snack you eat before exercise. If its too sweet you body may send to much insulin to you blood, then your exercise will drive it further down. I friend of mine ate protein a couple of hours before workouts, then a sweet snack after, she was hypoglycemic. But let your doctor decide, you don't know if any of us know what we are talking about.

The doctor might try and modify your diet. I was a competitive swimmer in high school and a girl on my team was also hypoglycemic. Before you swim at practice eat a banana or an apple which is packed full of sugar yet still good for you. This will prevent a hypoglycemic episode.

Talk to your doctor and find out what other things you can do.

all you can really do is pray. If you spend some time with god, he will spend some time with you at the doctor. actually, he is always there....but he is just waiting for you to sincerely ask him for help. I PROMISE
