I don't like any vegetables! I love fruits like apples, strawberries, and grape JUICE. But what about when they aren't in season, I don't want to eat just junk. What can I do. My whole family eats meat, I love the taste but can't stand the thought of killing animals. What can I eat and do? Give me Tips!

Oooh, I LOVE New Orleans! I was down there several years ago, as a vegetarian, and had no problems. I can't recall the names of any of the places I went to, though. There was a huge grocery store about 35-40 minutes outside of the city (I think) which had an okay selection of vegetarian products, including Morningstar Farms and Boca burgers. There were a couple of teeny little grocery shops within walking distance of Bourbon St with a little of the same. Even if you can't find the veggie brands very easily, you can also go with the tried and true pastas, beans, and various veggies.

Don't know if you're much of a restaurant goer, but I also managed to get some delicious veg meals at a few places, even a vegetarian po'boy! (It had mushrooms as the main component, yum!)

Good luck!

Here are some options in New Orleans: http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/louisiana/new_orleans/index.html

See, you can find a veggie meal at some places in the Crescent City.

And as I suggested to another poster who also hates vegetables, maybe it's that you haven't had them cooked correctly. My palate has changed since going veg, and I have learned to like asparagus and cauliflower (in small amounts). If you like fruits, you might want to get frozen organic.

And there are tons of analogues if you like the taste but hate the cruelty. Check out www.vegweb.com for resources for vegans.

Good luck!

Ask your mom to get you Boca burgers, they're completely vegan and you won't feel left out when the rest of your family is chowing down on hamburgers.

I used to hate vegetables, too, but it all depends on how they are served, I think. Now I love steamed broccoli and carrots, when they're nice and soft. I also like my artichoke/asparagus dipped in mustard (weird, I know! But I find it tasty), though, you could use mayonnaise if you don't mind contributing to the cause of sticking chickens in overstuffed cages. :) You could also look up recipes using spinach and stuff, like ravioli or something.

In chinese vegetarian cuisine, they have imitation meat made from soy (duck, fish, chicken, shrimp, squid, you name it). I think that is the best solution for you since you like the meaty taste but don't want to kill animal. They sell that at asian grocery stores. You don't have to cook them the chinese way. Just use the vegetarian meat and cook em like usual. Hope that helps.

You won't get enough nutrition without vegetables. You'll run out of things to eat, too, and you'll resort to chips, cookies, ice cream, etc. Trust me, I was a vegetarian for a long time and I actually gained weight because my diet was junk food.

i became a vegetarian when i was younger, and as you could imagine i hated vegetables also. they kinda grew on me. im sure if you cooked them in a way you like they wouldn't be as bad as you think. buy a vegetarian cook book or even look online. also you need a good multi vitamin. but most of them have gelatin. make sure you read the labels.

Your a perfect example of the feminization of America. You don't believe in killing animals for food, but animals do the exact same thing in their world to survive. Grow up and quit being a baby. Jesus never said it was a sin to kill animals for food. He fed his followers with fish all the time. What makes you think your better then him?
