I feel for him! I had my first of the season a week ago.lol.

Until I got to my Dr. I used a dehumidfier with vicks vaper drops in it. I also used meds. like advil and sudified. If he has Allegra D replace the sudified with that. Take 3 advil.Vicks or Menthalatim (sp.) rubs on the chest , throat and nose. Elevate the bed a bit for better breathing. I also suggest the saline nasel spray, not medicated, just the salt water stuff. A hot shower, then a warm towel should help with the pressure.Don't drink stuff that has ice or is too cold; it will solidify the pressure!
For the sore throat, I suggest caugh drops, and hot drinks.

The dizzy is from his ears. Tell him not to blow his nose, or caugh to hard, he could blow out an eardrum...which is nothing bad unless it gets infected, just a pain! Other then that, there isn't much to do for his ears at the moment. His Dr. will fix him up soon.

Hope this helps!

Take a decongestant continually. He probably has congestion in his ears and that's why he's getting dizzy. The one I recommend the most is the 12 hr. Sudafed. I don't recommend taking a sinus headache type because although it has a pain reliever in it, it usually has a reduced amount of decongestant per dose. If he would like a pain reliever for the sore throat, take it separate from the decongestant. Most pain relievers are fever reducers as well. (I know acetaminophen and ibuprofen are.)

A decongestant is really the only thing to take to help relieve the symptoms of a sinus infection. Only antibiotics can cure it.

Good luck! I know how whiny men can be when they are sick!

I think it would be highly unlikely to cause a sinus infection so quickly. It could be allergies, or you could have already started having the issue before taking the antibiotics. It is high allergy season, or it could be a cold as well. Either way - finish all of them for the UTI - if not it may not clear up or make that infection drug resistant. If the sinus thing gets worse, go back and see your doctor to make sure it is an infection.

For a very short term, you can use Afrin decongestant nasal spray twice a day and also a saline nasal spray as needed. Don't use the Afrin for more than about 4 days. An antihistamine like Claritin or Benadryl will also help. Tylenol for the fever. Hot steaming showers also help and a humidifier in the room where he is can also be soothing. Warm but not extremely hot beverages help too.

In desperation one day I typed "sinus headache" in the Internet search bar. The recommendation was to eat a whole raw pineapple which I did. The next day my sinus was clear! Praise the Lord

Steam showers, hot wash cloths on his face, if you have unidonized salt or sea salt, mix w/luke warm water & drop into nose (w/ear dropper of however you can clear out sinuses w/the salt). Then probably need antibiodics

Try one of those "netti pots." They're pretty cool, and work well to clear out sinuses.
