I would imagine leaving out the baking soda would damage the biscuit. I suggest baking the according the instructions since baking soda is used in most recipes.

Down South we eat ours with Tomato Gravy. It is pretty good and flavorful!!!

You can eat them with just about anything. Yes you must have the baking soda or they won't rise. Use two butter knives, place your butter or shortening in to the dry ingredients and cut continually on a horizontal until the shortening is cut into the dry and is in little pieces.

We make a sausage sandwich with them sometimes. You can buy pre-cooked frozen round sausage that you just pop into the microwave. We buy Jimmy Dean.

We also buy the pre-made frozen Pillsbury biscuits.

How about jelly or jam. We like Red Plumb.

I love them hot with butter, honey, or jam or jelly.

You can make a good breakfast sandwich if you fry an egg (break the yolk), and put some bacon, ham or sausage & some cheese on it.

My cousins eat some kind of chocolate sauce (no, I'm not kidding). I like to eat butter or margarine, and my father likes to eat butter or jam on his. You can make little pizzas out of them by adding sauce and cheese, too.
