Is there any study that shows how people with diabetes type I compare to other people in GDP per capita? I want to know if control of diabetes is so time consuming that is detrimental to peoples' success in life.

No studies that I know of or care to read. Diabetes is not debilitating in any way.... provided it's cared for properly.

Good answer, Mr. Peachy. I don't consider my diabetes time consuming. I do my blood sugar, take my insulin, eat and go about the business of the day. No problems for me. And not detrimental. I resent being put in a box and told I am different because I have a certain condition. I am a person with diabetes period. I am no different from anyone else with wants and needs. I strive for success like everyone else does and my diabetes does not get in my way.

I do not think you will find any studies or evidence of income disparities between diabetics and non-diabetics. You would find some race differences in the occurrence of diabetes notably type 2 in Indians and blacks. You should also be able to find substantial fields of employment that limit insulin dependent diabetics.

The American diabetics association (diabetes.org) would be a good place to start as they work to prevent employment discrimination of diabetics.

There's actually a lot of research on this topic. Search on "diabetes" +"quality of life".
