Diabetes is not a infectious disease. Anyone that tells you otherwise is wrong. Chronic high blood sugar (the result of uncontrolled diabetes) can inhibit the immune system and allow infections to occur, but diabetes is not a direct cause of infection. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2004 (had symptoms of it since 2000) and have yet to get any kind of infection from it.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/YYO5F
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

Diabetes is not an infection, just makes you more prone to them cause of the immune system being compromised. Type in foot ulcers in your search engine, I am sure you will come up with what you are looking for.

Foot problems that occur due to poor control of diabetes fall into 2 areas. Sores and ulcers that are slow to heal due to reduced circulation, and gangrene. You should find pictures under those names or go to "medlineplus.gov" and look in their encyclopedia. They have pictures of most medical conditions.
