Yes, almost every STD out there can be passed by oral sex. Of course some STDs are spread more than others through oral sex, and some STDs are really rare to get through oral sex.

The most common STD passed by oral sex is herpes. Herpes can be passed from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa through oral sex.

If a person has cold sores on their lips and gives a person oral sex, it's possible for the person "receiving" the oral sex to develop genital herpes.

It's also possible for herpes to be spread the other way around. If a person has genital herpes and receives oral sex, the person "giving" can develop cold sores on their lips and mouth area.

Usually cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1, but they can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2. Genital herpes on the other hand is usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2, but, like cold sores, it can be caused by herpes simplex virus 1 also.

Take care!

You can't get HIV if there are no cuts or sores in the mouth, but you can get STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and non-gonococcal urethritis.
