CPR on someone who has the wind knock out of them???

Please excuse me, but I need to know, are there theological questions on "the soul" or what is death or dying that is prompting these questions? Perhaps it is the burning question of certain greek words from the bible that is prompting these questions....Anyways......

Basic CPR states that all cpr must follow the ABC of cardio pulmonary resuscitation-

A-"Are you alright, Sir/Mam'm?' Check for consciousness...are they awake? Choking? Check the Airway...provide an open airway...If you can not, proceed to

B-Breathing- Are they breathing? Look, listen and feel the breath [or lack thereof] on your cheek...If there is none, give 2 breaths and proceed to

C- Circulation- check for pulse...if there is none, begin cardiac message to the chest...

And most of all, BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THAT, you get help!!!! Call out for help, and not with a little voice that no one can hear but with that loud commanding 'git yer sorry carcus over here NOW CAUSE I AIN'T DOING THIS ALONE" voice.....

but CPR on some one who has had the wind knock out of them.....NO WAY.....

Are they conscious and responsive?

Yes- no CPR or Rescue Breathing is needed. help them into a comfortable position. If they pass out, begin CPR, otherwise they will be breathing again in a couple seconds.

You should take a real course to see how things are done now- the Red Cross and other programs have made things a lot easier than they used to be.

For example- we don't take the pulse of an adult who is not breathing, we just do CPR at the rate of 30 compressions to 2 breaths. Take the class to find out more!

Wow.....CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)..please don't do CPR on I conscious person...you could injure someone if you do not know how...like breaking ribs....for a person who has had the wind knocked out of them support them so they don't pass out....if you can sit them down....depending on their size...you might not want to lay them down.....most people catch their breath in a few seconds...if not rescue breathing should be done after opening the airway....if a person is to the point of being unresponsive...you need to call for help (911)....taking a CPR class is very helpful....but keep in mind that you need to have the appropriate protection for yourself before performing CPR on a person.

The decision depends upon your assessment of the casualty. The 1st stage is 'ABC' - Airway (is it open, if so, maintain it in an unconcious person), Breathing (check for chest movement and exhaled breath), Circulation (pulse). It is a myth that performing any part of CPR will injure a health person. But really, you need to do a 1st Aid (Basic Life Support) course. I think that we should all do the course, but you have to do refreshers in order to maintain confidence & keep up to date with any changes to processes. I'm a health care worker, so I do a course every year.

CPR is a procedure that is done on someone who is in cardiac arrest (no pulse).

If someone has simply stopped breathing (but still has a pulse) then rescue breathing is indicated.

In both cases, the victim is usually unconscious and you will need to assess if they are breathing/have no pulse.

I would think so to get them to breathing again on their own as soon as possible,
