I dont think they are telling the same thing over and over again...A couple of hours at the beginning of the week gives one the feeling of togetherness, one goal,one perception and one in worship with God.
The interpretations are a multtitude which makes the hearing and understanding very interesting and never drab.There are exceptions when some preachers appear not to have the same enthusiasm as others have. But with all the singing and glorifying I am sure it is negligible.
Ultimately it is how prepared you are to accept the words of wisdom....trust & faith....surely some of the regular church goers must be experiencing something divine apart from catching up with near and dear ones. Is it not a better way to start a week in prayer , before getting into this hectic paced life every week .... which we have made for ourselves?

it is not the same stories all over again. For God said;
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Besides, if you believe that you can not eat all the things you need for the rest of you life, then it's also same as eating the Bread of Life;Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Can you feed your flesh the food it needs to live till your time is up? Can you do eat all you need for the rest of you life?
Likewise, if you are a True Born Again Christian: can you satisfy you spirit by just believing and having faith without feeding it with God's Holy Words? Can you walk with God in just one step? And not continuing in serving, worshiping, and loving Him in spirit and in truth?
All of these i assumed, you're talking of a House of worship that is not Echabod (the glory of God is not there within the church) or a congregation of the living dead (not spirit filled people).

We don't hear the same stories over and over. We come to get encouraged and to hear the word of God. You can never hear enough. It is new and fresh all of the time.
I seriously doubt if you have been to all of the churches in the world, so you have no way of knowing that "the same stories" are told "over and over."

Every time I hear those "same stories" I learn something new. That is the great thing about the word of God. The word of God never grows obsolete. Each time we read and study it the Holy Spirit can show us something new and ways to apply it to our lives.

I strive to bring up things from the scriptures that the people have never heard of or learned. I don't go to listen to old repeated boring sermons, but OFFER something. If I may paraphrase JFK... "Ask not what your church can do for you, ask what you can do for your church".
Sometimes old boring sermons need repeating, because people are people, and either forget, or wander and have to be reminded.

Some people came for the messages of God not for the story, and they are being bless through it, Word of God teaches many things so you'll keep on coming back, some for socialization, some because they are lost and needed a guidance from God.
God Bless You.

The BIBLE is not a small book just like a text book to study for a year and keep aside. it is a very large one consisiting of 66 Books. i feel that just one day of a week is not completely sufficient to entirely cover The BIBLE in a human being life. and there were so many views to understand a verse in The BIBLE.
