This is not a 2 sentence answer, and while I can answer this question I may not do it justice either but I'll give it a shot.
First point there is no one true Christian bible anymore; there are many versions of the bible. Some have had the wording changed (eg google King James & witches; I believe the original line mentioned unicorns). Chapters have been lost or hidden esp if deemed detrimental to the Church (more ofthen then not the Catholic church).
Second point is. Christianity = Patriarchy and monetheism. Pre-christian belief was often polytheiist and Matriarchial.
In the Christian creation myths God was solo (no female counterpart); he created Adam and Eve was born of Adam (replacing women/the Goddess as the bearers of life). Pre-christians/pagans didn't roll over as easily as the Christian church wanted them too so Christian Church decided to twist things around (ie a merry pagan god "Pan" into "the devil"), telling everyone that they had to pray indoors, and only one god, and by subjugating women to the point that they were blamed for humanity's "Fall from Grace".
I could go on but I'm sure my quasi-history lesson will make some cast stones at me ;)

First of all, you must understand the bible was written by man, and man it seems had to have a scape goat. In the garden of Eden, adam and eve could have anything except the fruit of the tree of life. and satan supposedly talked eve into partaking of the fruit of this tree. now if it were paradise would satan even be aloud there, i dont think so.and after she ate it, then she offer it to adam who with out hesitation ate it also. at least eve had to be talked into it.
But the simple fact is that though out time and not just in the bible woman kind has been blamed for mans short comings, but the fall of man as you say is and always has been due to hate , ignorance, greed, and self righteousness of those in power.

When Adam and Eve fell from Grace, the concept of blaming women for the fall was a radical concept. Most religions at that time focused on fertility, and female gods.
Men weren't worth much in society at the time. You can trace the development of 'stay-at-home-dads', through the Bible. Asking if blaming Eve, is a way to take power from women implies you already know this.
Societies that venerate a monotheistic female god aren't very survivable, in fact, they don't exist. I doubt that a 'creation myth' is the reason why women are subjugated worldwide, throughout history, without exception....

If you read the Bible carefully, both are to blame for the fall, because both have sinned and both were thrown out of the garden.
Why wasn't adam "man" or strong enough??? I could also say Why wasn't eve "smart" or wise enough not to partake of the apple??? Both are to blame. One is no better than the other.
However God loved them both and did not want them to lose hope, so he made them a promise. A promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

The bible also rebukes Adam for taking the fruit.
Yes, it may have been God's plan to estiblish a society where the man is head of the house hold and bread winner, therefore the women could tend to children. It is no secret (as a stay at home dad myself) then this is turned backwards there are struggles within a marriage.

The real question is why is the only thing that assures mankinds' survival made into a test and then a sin? If I believed in scripture, then I would have to deduce that man would have died off if Eve would not have taken the bite from the apple. So, we were just some big cosmic joke and experiment.
The bible was written by MEN in power to keep MEN in power. Someone had to be made the bad guy, and it was women.
To quote Homey the Clown, "What a crock!"

Adam was able to refuse to chomp on the fruit, but he chose to eat it, but the Bible does not blame the woman Eve for the fall of mankind, Note what it says here in (Romans5:12)Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. So you see the Bible puts the blame squarely on Adam not Eve, because not only was Adam the husband. and in charge of his wife but he was the more experienced one since he was made first, and God taught him directly and gave him the assignment to teach his wife.

The Bible blames both the woman AND the man for the fall, but Adam is more reprehensible because he was not deceived, as was Eve. The serpent didn't get off either, for God's curse affected this subtle creature as symbolic of Satan's 'seed' - to be crushed in the head after bruising God's 'seed' in the heel.
Adam should have been strong enough to resist the error of Eve. But could we please expose this nonsense about 'the fruit' being sex? God had already told them to procreate, with his blessing, so there was nothing sinful in sex. (Is it only Mormons who propagate this rubbish?)
This episode is about obedience to God, which entails knowing exactly what God said (the serpent changed God's words ever so slightly and created doubt in Eve's mind) and then doing it, in faith. Both Adam and Eve failed this crucial test. Eve tried to influence Adam the wrong way; he could have prevented things going further but his wrong decision made the mess worse. They lost spiritual power and began a man/woman power struggle. In God's curse to Eve, he said her desire would be for her husband, who would dominate her. Interestingly, that word 'desire' is the same as when God warned Cain that sin was crouching, desiring to have Cain, but he should master it. He failed, murdering his brother. That shows how serious this matter of control is. Wrong control is always sinful. Wives trying to control their husbands is always wrong. And although many men dominate their wives (in the sense of a curse), this too is sinful. That is why Christian husbands are told to love their wives, assigning them honor as 'weaker vessels' (physically), and wives are to respect their husbands. Get that right and power is balanced, no longer being a contentious, sinful issue.

Apparently Adam was 'henpecked'. Obviously the true story has been skewed.
Here is how it most likely went:
Eve was seduced by knowledge and power promised by the serpent.
She willingly ate the fruit.
She went back to Adam, who in his blind innocence was blind to the truth (hadn't eaten the apple yet). Eve tricked him into eating it with her new found knowledge. Her motive was that if she was going down for violating God's word, she wasn't going down alone (came from that knowledge). She chose evil over good with that decision. Adam ate because he was tricked. And probably because he saw how she changed and did not want to be lone or lose ANOTHER body part.
His reasoning is not the issue. he issue is that woman committed the original sin and poor Adam got the blame for it since the top dog gets the heat for what their 'employees' do. Not much different than corporate America is today.
Since she took down Adam, God condemned her to a life of great pains during child birth as well as other issues.
Before Eve there was Lilith, Adam's first wife. But that is another story....
Oh, both Eve and Lilith were female and BOTH sinned in God's eyes.

ADAM TOLD BY GOD AND EVE TOLD BY ADAM,"Do not touch the middle tree".
EVE DID IT: 1Tim.2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the
transgression. 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing,
if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
EVE WAS DECIEVED: Gen.3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any
beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the
woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of
the trees of the garden:3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in
the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither
shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman,
Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil.
DID ADAM KNOW NOT TO TOUCH THE TREE?
1Cor.15:11-18;
"As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive".
We are in the time frame of LOST in Eden to SAVED by Christ Jesus.
