Its a free country; so if someone wants to give something away, its their right to do so. Objectively, for someone to question them on their generosity is presumptuous and intrusive as it isn't any loss to anyone else, so why stress over it? Not trying to offend anyone.

An easy way to secure your right of ownership is to write down all your lyrics and music for your songs and mail them to yourself by registered mail. You will get the mail and sign for receipt and this will be on record and verifiable.

Don't open the package you sent/received!!

If someone uses your songs without acknowledging your rights and paying your royalties, you can use the registered mail as evidence and proof in court that you wrote the song and it is your property.

Most of the lyrics given are in the public domain and are freely available on the internet. Even if by some remote possiblitly someone used them and that song became a big hit you would not be entitiled to royalties anyway, as you do not hold the copyright, Unlikely that anyone does, as most of those blues lyrics have been around for 60, 70 or 80 years.
Most "blues" songs are just old verses that have been around forever and are just strung together and are found in many different songs.

What perplexes me is why people ask for lyrics on Yahoo Answers instead of conducting a simple Yahoo/Google search.

I gave lyrics for two blues requests tonight. Don't think there's any chance of them becoming hits. LMAO!
Make that three!

I think it's pretty much the fact that some people are idiots.
