Yes, You could get a relapse. There's no natural immunity from the flu and common colds.
Flu viruses affect the respiratory tract and cause headache, runny or stuffy nose (rhinitis); dry, persistent cough; and sore throat. In some cases, cough associated with the flu can last longer than 2 weeks. Influenza also causes systemic symptoms, including the following:
Chills
Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
Fever (usually high)
Malaise (generally feeling unwell)
Muscle aches (especially in the legs and back
Signs and symptoms of common colds may include the following:
runny or stuffy nose
itchy or sore throat
cough congetion
slight body aches
mild fatigue
sneezing, watery eyes, low grade fever up to 102F
Allergy symptoms may include the following:
sneezing
runny nose
itchy throat, nose, roof of the mouth
itchy, watery or red eyes
congestion
Although allergies and colds have similar symptoms, there are some telltale signs that can help you differentiate between them.
In Allergies, there's usually no fever; nasal discharge is watery and clear.; sneezing; rare cough; and the duration usually last weeks to months.
In Colds; there is rarely a fever; nasal discharge is thick and colored; sneezing; and coughing. The duration for the symptoms usually last for a week.
So the flu has a higher fever, more generalized body fatigue, and aches; and the duration for the symptoms last longer.

Sorry, but yes, you can ....your immune system may still be weakened from the first bout with the illness, and if you have a brother or other siblings around, the stuff just keeps getting passed around over and over again. Try all the usual things to avoid contact with contagious disease....wash your hands more often, stay out of direct contact with someone else who is sick, make sure dishes are clean and clothes and bedding, especially, if you and your brother share a room. Get some fresh air, plenty of vitamins and liquids and rest.

You guys don t know know anything do ya? Your immune system isn t at it s lowest point, in fact it s at it s hight! You re Brother can NOT give you the SAME Cold Virus if it truly is the SAME one that you just had. Your body has Antibodies against that particular strain.
However it IS possible that he has a different Strain, in which case you can get infected by the new strain. And no, a Cold Virus doesn t mutate fast enough for it to change via each person it effects. Please stop spreading misinformation, please.
I know this is an 8 year old thread.

I agree with the first poster, and also you can get sick from the same germs that you gave your brother! The germs get mutated in your brothers body so when he sneezes on you or whatever, the new strain of bacteria is in your body and you don't have the antibodies for those yet.

Yes, you certainly can. That's when your immune system is at it's lowest functioning capacity...right after an illness.
