If it makes you feel uncomfortable then it just does and there's nothing you can do about it. Try to avoid him or not respond to him. Don't second guess yourself because if you think somethings wrong, it probably is. BE SAFE and tell someone close to you how you feel about this guy so you'll have a witness (or keep a diary just to be safe)

They're nothing wierd about that at all! That's nice that he took the initiative to approach you first. I know how it is being new to college. Something about you must be very intriguing to him. If you do feel uncomfortable though, then try to keep your conversations with him civil but short.

It's slightly creepy, but he' probably just trying to be friendly. He might find you attractive as well. There's nothing wrong with that as long as he doesn't push his attentions further than you're comfortable with.
