Step 1: Say "the sinners prayer", you know, the one where you make up the words starting with "Jesus" and it includes, "Please forgive me for my sins", "I accept your salvation from my sins","Thank you for dying on the Cross to pay for my sins", "Please be the Lord of my Life", "I surrender all that I am to you", "Please baptize me with your Holy Spirit".
Step 2: Keep repeating step 1 until it, not only comes from your brain, but comes from your heart. It is like, you go through it once, an hour passes and you realize that it was just words coming out of your mouth. Maybe the next week you try a few more times until finally you have your brain wrapped around the concept. Once your weary heart wakes up to the emptiness and yearns for God's love to keep it company. Once it is ready to make decisions according to God's opinion (the Guy who can see the big picture, your whole future) more than it's own desires. Once that heart says, "I surrender", then your ready to really accept Jesus Christ and say that prayer and mean it.
Step 3: When the Holy Spirit descends on you (because you just have got to ask for the baptisim of the Holy Spirit), you will never be the same. For some He comes gently the first time, for some, He comes like a flame, like at the Pentecost, you can feel His energy flowing through you, filling you with ecstasy. At this point, you KNOW you have met God, yes, you have FOUND Jesus. To each one the Holy Spirit gives a gift, and not all receive the gift of tongues, not all the gift of healing, see 1 Corinthians 12.
Big Step: Starting now, find a church Home. (If you are lucky enough to already have one, then stay put, until God says otherwise.) By that I mean, go to a different church each Sunday until you find the one where you feel comfortable, like your at home. Where the people feel like family, even though they are strangers, you just feel comfortable with them. There are congrations out there where there is no judgement or condemnation (for the most part. We are human after all and are bound to make mistakes). Go find people you can bind with. They may well be the very people where you currently attending then you don't need this step at all.
God Bless you!

you understand. thats what it means. you accept his gift to you. being "Christian" or filed into some religion file cabient makes no difference. its irrevlevant. its what jesus means to you. how you translate the bible into your own life. not about what others say. its a mixture of faith, emotions and history that just let you know its real.
you will know when you "find christ" because his holy spirit will fill you. in the bible it say sto pary for understanding before you study the bible or anything like it so that the holy spirit will show you what you need to know.....tell you what it means. you will find it.
when you accept his gift of eternal life by repenting your sins (and i DO NOT MEAN CONFESSION! your repention is between you and God....you do not have to go through a father to talk to god in a personal way....thats another power thing with catholics...god is PERSONAL) and trusting in him.....you will find that you understand more too....
i hope that was helpful in any way....

His Spirit! It's from His Spirit that we get compassion and mercifulness. We get love, not only for our neighbors, but for Him from Him.
You have to point to Him! Not us Christians! Us Christians are sinners like you, only we are saved sinners. We are only servants.
My pastor was a preacher's kid. He was taught how to act like a Christian before he actually became one. Every kid raised in the church has a point in time when he must decide to make his faith in God genuine. It has to come from each individual. An you aren't going to get much of that by pointing to Christians. We might be able to teach you something, but we couldn't unless we knew something about God directly.
So let the 'religion of Christianity' do what it wants. There are many translations in many forms of English available so that you can learn it from the Master Himself. I am no example of perfection, but Jesus is.
So look to him. If Christianity claims to have a source, then go to the source. That's what I did (eventually).
The scriptures are full of Jesus Christ. Now get to lookin'!

You can't find jesus cause there (apparently) ain't no body to find.
Everything in the religion is so 'mysterious'.... why?... cause it's all fake.
Trust me, your life will be much more fulfilling if you weren't bound by religion.
You know, you can be a good person/contributor to society, an ethical person, without being part of any religion.

Why should you return to christianity??
You can very well follow the good teachings of Jesus without joining christianity..
Christianity is such a idiotic religion...
Jesus was a great prophet...
His name is spoiled because of cheap christians..

All you have to do is open the door and let him in. Reading your Bible is the key to the locked door and if the Bible is going against the beliefs you had in Church than read for yourself what a Christian is with out all the religion to go with it. Remember just open the door, he knocks and you open.

You're just going to get answers like, "If you had faith, then you'd know."
It's pointless to ask.
