It was working fine since i bought it, then one day i took photos and when i tried to see them on screen there was nothing but black screen, i transfered wtever it was on my laptop and it does tell, pic taken on that date from canon powershot a300 etc etc but its all black.

even when i switch camera on, i can see manuals, etc but to take shot...the object doesnt appear on screen i mean its totally black. wt could be wrong and can it be mended.

i have been using this camera for some months. and now it has got this prob. i have read all manuals, and turned to yahoo to get some advice.

Contact Canon. Due to a Sony manufacturing defect, millions of cameras were made with bad sensors, including your Canon model. It should be a free repair.

Try to look thru your view finder. You might have activated the view finder.

Is it possible that the lens cover was left on?

maybe u should read the booklet properly before you use the camera, or u should ask your friend......
