As long as they are good ( sharp) ones, yes you can. (blunt ones will crush instead of cut and that would hurt )
Be careful to avoid the "quick" - I normally just take the tips off.

You can find cat clippers in almost any pet store. Dog clippers are too strong and large so don't use those for your cat. If all else fails, you can use rabbit/guinea pig nail trimmers. Most cats put up a fight especially if they aren't used to it, so I wait until my cats are sleeping. When you extend the nail (by gently squeezing the tips of the paw) you'll see a clear part at the very tip of the nail. That is the part that you want to clip. You'll also see a pinkish reddish area, and that is the quick (the part that you don't want to clip) carefully cut each claw (there are five on each front paw and four on each back paw) if your cat doesn't tolerate it, then you can just clip the front ones and do the back ones later on in the day. If your cat doesn't like it being done while he is resting, then when he is awake, give him some cat treats and that might help distract him! If you feel scared, or think you might hurt your kitty, you can ask someone to help you (it is much easier with two people) or have your vet do it. They can show you how and it'll be much better for your cat. All the best!

You can, but I think the best clippers are made for animals. I like the small scissor looking type, with rubber around the edges where you put your fingers. You have to be very careful. I clip my cat's nails when they are sleeping and in an area with LOTS of sunlight, so I can be very sure that I do not cut the nails too short. You should just clip the tips of the nails. Stay far away from the pink that your see through the nail, those are blood vessels meeting up to the nail(the quick). If my cats wake up too soon and start putting up a fight. I go away and wait for them to get sleepy again, or wait till the next day to finish clipping their nails. It's too risky to wrestle and clip a cat's nails. Your vet can do it, or show you how to do it. If you insist on using human clippers, I think fingernail clippers, instead of toenail clippers are a better size to use.

Well, you can, but only if you know what you are doing. Cat claws are shaped differently but are very thin. If you only snip off the very sharp end and don't go up to far or cut into the quick you could be ok. Just be careful and only take off a little at a time. Make sure that you do not have dull clippers. If you have any doubts it is best to have the vet do it.

Even with special clippers that is hard, my father used to clip the cats claws with special clippers made just for cat claws and one time clipped slightly back too much the poor cat bleed from her toe claw, he never clipped them again after that.

Yes, just make sure you aren't cutting into the part of the claw that looks like a white triangle. If you cut into it, your cat can honestly bleed to death. Also, most cats hate their claws being clipped. It's easier if you have two people.

Agree with Elva and will add that if the clippers aren't sharp, you'll end up splitting the claw. Not a fun thing for the kitty.

not really. human nails are a completely different shape than cat claws. pick up some claw clippers at your local pet supply place. they're pretty cheap.

Yes. Get the cat/kitten used to having the paw stroked, then gently held, then you can press the pad to extend the claw. Just take the sharp tip off. I do this with my cats every couple of weeks -- I am not into involuntary acupuncture...

Yes you can...make sure they are very sharp & just clip off the ends....be VERY careful not to clip too far back to where the nail is no longer see through...this is the "quick" or skin under their nail & it will be very painful if you clip this & it will more than likely bleed A LOT....Ive alwasy clipped all my cats nails w human nail nippers & it does a great job
