Say something like this, "Please don't finish my sentances for me, I'm sure you're very perceptive, but please let me finish before you jump in"
Yes it can definitely be annoying, but I think as people are in concern. The reasons people like to finish sentances are for a couple of reason. One they're impatient and want to jump ahead if the main idea is something they already predicted. Second, it may be the person thinks they really understand you and can read you and it may be their way of showing you that they get where you're going with a topic. Thirdly, it may be something their family did and it just because a habit of theirs. Fourthly, people may do it, because they feel that they are helping the other person. either by finding the word that they can't think of or eliminating the number of words they have to say.
Sometimes it can be helpful if your stuck on a word, but not when you know what you're saying.
Whatever reason it be, the best response is to be polite. If you want to recieve good manners, you have to present good manners. So don't give the finger or anything obserd like that. Just say politely "Please if you would, don't finish my sentances for me, I know your probably trying to help things along, but I'd prefered you let me finish" But try not to say "Please don't finish my sentances, it's very annoying" the second sentance is more negative and you'll get a more negative response from them.
Good Luck at intervening on sentance finishers !!!

I have a hard time abiding by that as well. I have an uncle who does that, only he doesn't "guess" correctly. He thinks of the most off the wall thing and interjects, which starts of an avalanche of laughter from nearly everyone else in the room who happens to think that sort of rudeness is funny. I've especially had to learn not to give any anecdotes that happen to start with "one time..." because no matter how fast I say it, someone (usually the uncle in question, another uncle or my mom) will say, "At band camp?" And I want to say, "Look! That movie (American Pie) came out eight freakin' years ago! Get your rear end over the theater and see another movie! Geez!"
Sometimes I think that some people need to do what kindergarten teachers do and have a "Talking Stick." Only the person holding the stick can talk and they have to give it to someone else after five minutes. Yes, adults shouldn't need something like that, but if they couldn't master the skill of not interrupting other people when they were five, they shouldn't have been promoted to the first grade.
Edit: I don't think there's a way to break people of these annoying habits, other than saying, "Excuse me, I believe I was talking." If they still don't get it, then it might be best to spare yourself the aggravation by avoiding them and then not speaking to them much if you have to be around them. When it comes to my uncle, I don't hang around much and when I have to be around him, I usually only use one or two word sentences. It's sad, I know, but it spares my blood pressure from rising through the roof.

Kindly ask them to not try to finish your sentences. I used to do that a lot... I didn't realize I was doing it until someone pointed it out and said just that to me. I think it comes from impatience with someone who talks more slowly than you do... I think so b/c I don't think I tend to do that with most people.
Maybe you are giving off a tone of hesitance or seem at a loss for words. People may just be responding to your non-verbal cues.
But yes, I know it can be irritating .

(-: I'm on the other side. I jump in when it looks like someone is having trouble finding the right word.
Of course, I live in Japan, and a lot of us are forgetting our English. I feel grateful when someone jumps in and helps me out.
I think your answers are fine -- without the profanity.

I find that people nowadays are not only rude but selfish...today, "its all about me," ..... I've been told the proper way to handle this to ignore it; but I can't do it; I tell them that they're "ignorant," then change the subject and gradually walk away.

It's not a pet peeve for me but I tell them I think they are rude for interupting me. I also tell them it is a bad habit, and one they should try to eliminate.

I just tell them to shush, and let me finish my sentence. You can't guess what I'm going to say anyway.

I generally just say calmly "can I finish what I was saying please". People look mildly startled and then generally stay quiet so I can finish what I was saying. It is annoying, so just try to persist in saying what you meant to say.
