...yet you find it impossible to fathom something like the Big Bang happening for no reason? I really am honestly interested to know. The answer that i was given as a Child was.... the Human Mind cant comprehend infinity. So please do not use that answer as it just doesnt work for me. Thanks.

I understand what you are saying Julien. Being a finite Creature it is very hard to grasp things like that. I am more asking how someone can have such Faith that there is a Being with no begining and no end but can so easily discount something like the Big Bang. Thanks for the replies.

Im sorry i did not express myself correctly. When i say "happened for no reason" I mean without " A conscious Mind causing it". I can fully understand that as a believer you could incorporate the Big Bang into your Creation Story. Cause and Effect is a basic law of Physics, while i am not Rocket Scientist i do understand that. Thank you to those who answered what i asked.

im thinking the exact same thing as you here bro. you and i can share a look of complete understanding ok ;)

i think that crap about not comprehending infinity is because everything in our physical world is linear. milk will expire, humans will die, and .... man i forget the point i was trying to make.

believing in anything you cant reasonably prove is just silly. peace out

It’s actually impossible that there could be a beginning or an end of God or for some of His creations. For instance, how could there be a beginning or an end of space? If there were such things, then we’d be in some sort of a container. But if there’s a container in space, there has to be either space or something solid that holds that container. If it’s space, that contradicts the theory of no more space. If it’s a solid thing, where does that solid thing end? And what about beyond its own end? You see, it’s impossible to have a beginning or an end for space.

It's even more impossible to imagine a beginning and an end regarding God. He cannot be God if He had these attributes for one. Secondly, how could a limited God create an endless universe? That would mean that the space is greater than God and that it would have been there before God. This is ridiculous, and God would be disqualified from being God. There are too many inconsistencies if God were not eternal forwards and backwards, so I’ll leave it at that.

As for the Big Bang, even if there were such a thing – which I don’t believe there is – who put life into all the organisms? We could put things together, make things work, etc., but we can’t create life from nothing. A Princeton University doctor wrote: “The probability of life originating from an accident is comparable to the probability of an unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a print shop.” Now this makes sense to me.

Some of the greatest human minds say that the Big Bang theory is the best explanation of the beginning of the universe. Since I am not an expert in such fields such as Astrophysics and Astronomy, who am I to argue with them? Infact I find it fascinating and I enjoy learning about science and the origins of the universe. I am even a subscriber to American Scientific Magazine. I would never argue with people smarter then me about the subject, but just like they know more about science then me, maybe I know more about God then them. My whole thing is that man has not figured it all out yet, there many things we do not know, many things we are not yet capable of knowing. There could be something beyond a physical universe, something we have not detected yet, other dimensions our minds have not evolved enough to quantify. You and I are the same because we both seek truth. The truth is that God is real and that does not mean the Big Bang did not happen. Afterall, if you built a house, would'nt you need architectural plans? I don't want to insult your intelligence with petty arguments. If you feel things do not need a reason then that is fine for me. Just do not shut yourself out from learning the truth, just like I will not shut myself from learning about science.

Everyone needs something to believe in. Just look about u at all the miraculous things on this earth including the human body and how water and food and all the necessities of life is supplied to support every living, growing thing with such precision that one has to believe that there is a higher power that put it all together. Where God came from is a mystery no man of this earth can answer. Maybe at the end of time, which there will be, answers will be revealed.

Because God is supernatural...... God is not a regular physical species. Your problem is that you view God like an all-powerful pink elephant. God transcends the laws of nature.

What is so hard to understand about infinity?

<--------------------------------->

Thats infinity. No beginning, no end. You cannot have something come before infinity, there is not a "start" to infinity. Hence you guys always ask, "Can God create a rock so big he cannot lift it?". You cannot have greater then infinite strength.

You do not understand the concept of supernatural or infinity.

The Big Bang cannot happen without a reason because it is a physical event, not a supernatural one (unless you say it was directed by a Supernatural being) and the universe is finite, not infinite.

Because it cannot be otherwise.

Your concept of the Big Bang theory is in error. No rational scientist will say it happened "for no reason." No matter what you believe about existence, the fact of the matter is, something has existed forever. There are no scientific principles that suggest that something can come from nothing.

The thing is, the primary something that has to exist even before the Big Bang is very intangible -- law. There has to have been laws that govern how matter would come into existence BEFORE it came into existence.

Laws (and order) are evidence of a sentient mind. And the fact that these law govern all mass and energy in the universe is evidence of Power. Sentient Power is really just another way of saying GOD.

God is the beginning, he is the origin from which everything came. He was not born and he cannot die, he is a spiritual energy that has always been. Look at us and other creatures, there is a design there. I have a question that I want you to ask yourself. What are the odds of planet earth being perfectly distant from the sun in our solar system, and being set on it's axis as to where we neither burn or freeze? The ozone layer making it possible for the earth's atmosphere?Furthermore, to have that happen from the "big bang?" If there is a design, then there is a designer!

I have no problem or difficulty believing in God. That's not difficult if you encounter His Spirit.

But understanding infinity is a different matter. Yes God is revealed as 'from everlasting to everlasting' . But what is that? I don't know! I have reached the ceiling of what I feel comfortable with: Man cannot understand EVERYTHING. It's beyond our finite brain, and we have no example of infinity- even saying that space is infinite is debatable lately.

So what example of infinity do we have is outer space is finite? Nothing that I can think of! So we cannot see, because it is not something that we can see. (I so would like to have italics as an option here on Y!A)

Sorry to disappoint you, but I agree with what you were told. Unless you can come up with a better explanation . . . . !

I dont know why so many atheists assume that christians throw out science. Maybe, just maybe there can be a God and a Big Bang theory. The big bang theory is still pretty sketchy. Will need a lot more research before I accept it as scientific fact. But even if I do come to the conclusion it is correct than it doesnt diminish my faith in God in any way.

God works thru scientific principles, not contrary to them.

I'm a Muslim but our such thoughts about the God are same as Christians.
The God without beginning and with no end shows that the God is free of the dimensions of time and space, beyond the dimensional fabrics of this universe. Who is always aware of everything in this universe through His All Mighty attributes, capabilities and absolute qualities.
