Normally the Committee chairperson runs the meeting, further duties are determined by the commitee and or the governing body above that committee (e.g. a Chairperson on a US Senate commitee may have a different role than the chairperson of a county taskforce)

Chairperson is in charge of all the work assigned to a committee and sees to it that its objectives are performed.
