Short answer, yes. Normal capacity is defined by your pistol's length of grip and what size magazine (not clip) will fit flush with the bottom. Most .45's are 7, some are 8. You can get much longer ones, clear up to 20 or so.

There are many large capacity magazines for standard straight magazine guns. But from my experience anything over 10 rounds is a pain in the arm. Who cares for a magazine that is so big that you can't carry it concealed or is so heavy that it causes you to tire out holding the dang thing up. Only the wanna be Rambo's buy those large capacity magazines and call them clips. If I can't get my assailant with 7 rds and an extra magazine than my fate was sealed cause I didn't practice.

It is also dependent upon the 45 handgun you have. Some, like the Para Ordnance P14 have a wider body grip that can accomadate a magazine that holds 14 cartridges and fits flush with the grip bottom. Glock 21 mags. hold 13 rounds, and Springfield makes their new XD45 that has 13 round magazines.

You can't get a clip but, you can get a magazine. They make a 50 round drum magazine for 1911 style pistols.

You can get an extended magazine for your 45 from a dealer or maybe even army surplus. The extended magazine was made for the 45 caliber sub-machine gun, or burp gun as it was called, because of the sound made from its high rate of fire.
I'm not sure if you can tape two clips together but I don't think so. I hope this helps.

There are a few companies that make extended mags. I think the Wilson Combat mags are the best 10 round. I have used them in competition where allowed. CHIP MCCORMICK mags are good also. If you check Midway USA they have some higher cap mags but they don' usually function very well.

I assume you are asking for a 1911. You can get higher capacity magazines, but they look ugly as that they really stick out of the gun because of the single stack design.

Look up Mec-Gar and get one of their 10 round magazines to try. Yes they do stick out farther and look ugly. They also work well for me, I have 2.

Sure can, but a word of warning, they may not function reliably in the gun like the ones intended for the gun.
