Once I became atheist, I stopped thinking about God or gods. Though it might be possible, I don't remember if I ever did. It certainly hasn't happened during my adult years.
some people don't have a clue as to what atheism, agnosticism mean. See first answerer.
what point? That she can't see past her beliefs? She says "everybody".
I don't mean to sound rude. Really. It just baffles me a little.

I struggled with the question for a long time. It was clarified when I was in college. I went to a Catholic univerisity, simply because it had the best program for the major I wanted. We were required to take Religion classes.
I aced the classes I took. I was told, point blank "I can't believe the heathen in the only one who passed the classes"
Debates would be spirited, and devolve into the devout Catholics calling everyone else losers, idiots, and other negative terminology, only to be told that such behavior was wrong by the priests or nuns teaching the class.
At that point, I decided that God does exist. I just don't believe in the concept of religions, which are man made explanations and thought control systems. God doesn't need a church to reach me. He doesn't need Priests or Nuns to guide me.
The road is written in every single moment of every single day of my life. Although I admit at times... I suspect God is looking else where because the world should not be full of so much pain and suffering. Any just and good God would be more proactive in preventing war, disease and suffering.

I believed once. Something like 14 years ago. Then something happened and I stop believing in anything at all. There has been some times when I´m in real need of divine intervention, and even if i have had the thought, i discard it really soon. I stick to my beliefs, and I must do so specially when i could use god the most.

I believed in God until about the age 10, which is when I started to realize my belief was based on nothing but wishful thinking and what my family told me to believe. By about age 12, I had accepted that God is either non-existent or unknowable. And since then, I've never seen evidence to the contrary.

Yeah, for the better part of my life. Then I asked too many questions.
ADDENDUM: Vijay D, here's my counter: go look up 'circular logic' on wikipedia. Thinking is a critical part of why I don't believe in a god anymore.

i'm a very strange person. i can hold multiple opposing viewpoints in my head at one time.
i can believe in god. i sometimes do so for fun.
i choose not to most of the time.
similarly, i can believe in all religions, and all forms of gods. even the flying spaghetti monster (he's a cool god. kind of creepy though).
i sometimes even talk to god (and a demon that co-inhabits my body, but that's a different story).
and at the same time, i recognize that i'm talking to a voice in my head that i subconsciously created in order to play god (the same is true with the demon).
one of my favorite phrases is "i believe in coincidences". because i can come up with like 10 different meanings behind that phrase. and i can believe all of them at the same time.

What Butterfly says is nonsense.
It's like when you're watching the Wizard of Oz and you get to the end and you find out she just bumped her head and blacked out and had a bad dream ... it's a big disappointment but you just accept it and get on with life. No sense crying over what you THOUGHT was real but turned out not to be.

I was raised Catholic, and definitely was a believer for most of my youth. Fortunately, I opened my eyes and my heart to bigger and better possibilities rather than a god, a heaven, a hell, and the silly faith such stories require. Whew! It was a close call!

I have noticed when atheists have something horrible happen to them they always blame God. How interesting. God says eternity is put in everyone's hearts. They know. There is no excuse. But the pride of life is just getting in the way. Our job is to pray for them and be an example of love, patience, forgiveness, charity, and sacrifice. It is not to attack them or harass them.
