No. Atheists don't believe in any of the gods.
You might be a Deist, or a Pagan.

You are not an atheist as an atheist believes that there is no God.
You are probably either a deist or a theist (as it does not sound like you believe in multiple gods [polytheist] or see everything as God [panthiest] ).
Deist and theist are two general terms that describe people who believe in a single God. A deist sees God as creator of the world but thinks he has nothing to do with us now. He just sort of wound it up and let it go. A theist believes in a God that created the world and is still active in it now.
On a narrower level you sound similar to the teachings of Islam or even Unitarian Christian (with a stretch) which is a type of protestant Christian (they do not blieve ithat Jesus is God and, as all protestants, reject the authority of the Roman Catholic Church).

No, you're not an atheist. You'll have to do a bit more thinking and learning to get there! btw, the evidence for Jesus actually being an historical person is not as convincing as you might wish. For example, the four gospels were not written until about the year 70 ad, which would have been some 40 years *after* his death. Plus, the four gospels are themselves rather contradictory between themselves. Anyway, that's a history lesson for another time perhaps...

Atheists lack belief in deities. You believe in a god. Case closed.
I'd say you are probably associated with Islam, as they consider Jesus a prophet but not a messiah. But your note about the Catholic Church assumes that you are in the Christian belief system. I'm not quite sure what your religion is.

If you believe in God then by definition you are not an atheist but a deist.
I would like to talk to you sometimes about your conclusion on the identity of Jesus. Feel free to email me.

How can you be an atheist?
You believe in a god - you created; given name, form, sex, attributes etc like any other religious person;
you believe in a heaven which differs from the Hindu/Buddhist/Moslem heaven.
How can you be an atheist?
You have god, heaven and another religion.
You will go to the hell/heaven of your own creation - like all other religious people.
If you can convert to Buddhism you can avoid hell and heaven because they have only 'nothingness' after death.
If you convert to Hinduism, the heaven has the best sweets of the world and the hell is not so bad - it is not physical suffering such as in the christian hell.
What is your hell and heaven? - good food, or broccoli and spinach, or brimstone and brooms or wings and air-conditioning?

If you believe that there is a god and that Jesus *was* a prophet, then you have more in common with the Muslims my friend.

This is the truth as I see it.
We live in a Uni-verse. Our Uni-verse in but one within an Omni-verse which contains an infinite number of Uni-verses.
There are three realms of existence in each Uni-verse.
The physical. Newton helped us discover this realm.
The quantum. Plank helped us discover this realm.
The virtual. This realm is open to discovery by anyone.
I too believe each Uni-verse is created by a force or energy that is unlike you or I. But this does not make me an atheist nor does it make me "religious."
Are you familiar with the term "Cargo Cult"? Religion in all of its varied forms throughout human history is an expression of what humans do not and perhaps cannot fully understand about the concept of "creation."

Not being of that faith, but enough of them have knocked at my door. You might want to take a gander at the Jehovah Witness bunch. They believe in God, but I don't think they are part of the Jesus crowd.
But, no atheist is not your bag.
But do try to have a nice evening at any rate.

Do you really want to be labeled?
How about, "A Seeker"? Are you "A Seeker for Truth"?
"An Independent"? A "Free Thinker"?
I am always stunned when people seem to be more concerned about what they believe than what the truth might actually be, or how God might feel about things, or where you'll be when He stands up to make things right.
