This resembles a huge red welt. I have never been very prone to acne and I shower and keep myself clean. I am a girl who is nearly 13 (yeah I am an early developer).
It hurts whenever I sit and I am having all these bad ideas of having a butt infection!!
The "zit" is big and red, with a white tip, and I am too wimpy to try and pop it (never had a huge whitehead zit before... I'm pretty lucky with genes when it comes to acne problems)

What should I do??

I took a bath, and the pain has gone away and the size is decreasing....

I probably overexagerated how bad it is *but* I did tell my mom about it. She said to wait and see how it goes.

My friend had something that looked just like it on her arm, and she said the same things about hers.

This 'ZIT' could possibly be something called py lo ni' a del cyst. I use phonetic spelling because I know how it is pronounced but am a lousy speller. You should check with your family Doc or a Nurse Practioner, or the School Nurse and let some one in the medical profession evaluate this. If it is a cyst, it can be lanced and drained, under conditions where the contents of the "Zit" don't run down into some place you don't want extra germs hanging out. If it is a simple 'zit' they can also squish it for you and get rid of it. It is in a place way to awkward for you to get enough leverage to pinch that hard.....and you don't really know what your pinching...........let a prof help you on this one. FYI any one get get a cyst it has NOTHING to do with being clean. They just happen.
Have you told your Mom???? She should be able to be a great deal of support for you since you are fairly young to have your own Gyn Doc. If you look up the word, look under pi in the on line med info......Medline Plus has a great article, you can google or Yahoo search for MedlinePlus it will give you some very good information. Look under Pi, scroll until You find Pilonidal Dimple.
Good Luck and do tell your Mom or someone this is or can be kind of serious if left untreated if this is what it is.
Good Luck

Leave it alone and go to your doctor. This could be what's called a pilonidal cyst and not a simple zit. If it gives you a lot of pain this weekend go to an ER. You might try sitting in a warm bath to see if it relieves any discomfort. Whatever you do though, don't try to squeeze it or pop it. Pilonidal cysts are complicated and you need to see a professional about it. Good luck.

Have your Mom or someone take a look at it. I had a cyst on my tailbone when I was about your age that had to be cut out by the doctor. Go see a doctor if it doesn't go away within a week.

It is called a pilonidal cyst. It is an abscess that occurs right there, and can get very serious. You will struggle with it your entire life, and you may need surgery and antibiotics from time to time. You need to see a doctor. My ex-husband has the disease, but not very severely. Some people have it badly, others do not. See the article I've linked below.

DO NOT POP IT!!!

Don't pop it. What you have is an ingrown hair that has become infected and it is infected internally as well. You need to see a Doctor now so they can lance it. Treatment is not as painfull as what you have now. What is happening is that the hair is 'burrowing' through the flesh inwards instead of outwards. That is why it is very painfull and infected.
Tell Mum and go to the Doctor straight away.
I had a friend that ignored it, popped it and they had to have a major operation to clear it up.

LOL It more than likely is a boil that keeps returning. Try a hot compress and hot bath soak. After it drains clean with hydrogen peroxide and dab a little neosporin on it. don't be sticking pins in it and squeezing will push infection deeper into the skin.

This is most likely a boil. DO not pop it. Use warm soaks in a tub but if you have had it a while have someone take you to urgent care for antibiotics to help take care of it.

try putting a hot compress on it, may be able to relieve the pressure that way also if it is getting bigger you may have a cyst keep a very close eye on the size alot of people get them but do not let it go on too long see a doctor if not getting smaller
