Reincarnation is, after you have died, the process of being reborn in a new body or form of life.

(Example: becoming a butterfly, dog, etc)

Unlike after life after death (near death experinces's and mediumship), reincarnation can not be proved. People that claim to read past lives are making it up. The earth plane is preschool and then you go onto higher levels in the spirit world. What need is there to repeat preschool?

Becoming an animal is called transmigration. And reincarnation (at least in some religions' interpretation, is not "you" as you know yourself to just get a new body; it's just like your energy which more likely is sort of merged with the energy of others who have died.) Think of a wave rising, peaking, descending, and crashing on the beach. Then it slowing goes back into the ocean. The wave is like your life; the next wave may contain a large portion of the previous one or, if it was a really big wave, goes further out to sea and then later maybe only some small portion of the same water molecules resurface. I think it demonstrates our incredible interdependence. (But remember, coming back isn't always the best outcome - unless you've chosen the path of the bodhisattva, to help others; you could reach enlightenment and nirvana.)

Generally speaking, transmigration would be the term for returning in the body of any animal other than human (butterfly, dog, etc.). Reincarnation is the soul returning in human flesh. I'm a Reincarnationist. I'm not in any hurry to come back to Earth. If I'm not reborn in another *better* world than *this one* I think I'd rather stay in the spiritual realm for awhile.

Well, since the world loves the Dalai Lama and not calling him a liar then I would have to assume that the world belives in reincarnation. The Dalair Lama is the only living proof that reincarnation occurs.

No reincarnation. Who would want to come back to this hell hole anyway? It is cruel to all things.
