I have answered a few questions sarcastically, and felt sorry. It is rare though. There are people on here that are trying to relieve their frustrations in life, online. They will say anything because they know they can get away with it...it is very cowardly!

I'm glad you got your questions answered even though you indicate you had some responses that were mostly nasty comments. Why do people get angry over certain questions? Actually, I think some people are just so full of anger that it doesn't take much to ignite their burn pile. Some people just like to make others feel stupid.....probably makes themselves feel smarter. I am of the opinion that there is no stupid question.....only stupid answers......IF the person is asking in sincerity. However, there are so many questions fielded in this forum that are meant simply to irritate, or create an argument, or intimidate, or bully.....and there are answers that do the same thing. Unfortunately, I sometimes "take the bait", too, and fire back in that case when the smart thing would be to just ignore. I'm hoping to learn that skill someday soon.

There are some people here who ask questions because they THINK that they are being humorous or because they are really trying to ridicule members of a certain group. So when someone sees a question, they make an incorrect assumption that another person is taking a dig at them, and they take offense.
I'm guilty. I have answered in a nsippy way when someone asked an innocent question. I guess I am so used to being verbally attacked for my Christianity thatI sometimes autmatically assume that others are mocking me, when in reality, the person asking the question really doesn't know and wants an answer.

If people get angry at you when you ask a sincere question, they have the problem. I had a guy get angry at me for asking a question recently because according to him, I placed it in the wrong 'category'. Just ignore people like that. When you ask a question, it gives you a combination of categories to choose from and I chose the one which sounded the most approrpriate. Don't let other's anger hurt you but if you feel you have made a mistake, a little humility never hurts in saying "I am sorry". Good luck!

How do you detect anger from written words? I'm not angry.
