I work 5 hours straight as a TA and frankly I dont time to eat in those hours (i eat breakfast before leaving for work). But when I get out work..Im famished and would like some ideas for power bars or granola bars etc..that would help suppress my hunger. The commute from work is quite long so i have time to munch on something while driving. What food bars..snacks ets..can you recommend me, I'm also trying to lose weight, so healthy and non-fattening recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

there is no such thing as "fattening" - its all about calories in vs calories out - create a slight deficit and you will lose fat.
trail mix - you can make your own before. get dried fruit and nuts from store and mix them together.
also take some fruit with you (wash before)
There are so many granola bars to choose from - go to health food store and see what they have in there.
If you get protein bars... they are usually with lots of calories and a lot of them come from sugar which you dont need.

Most granola snack type bars are pretty high calorie. If you really like them, I think Luna bars are the best tasting, and they have a good protein/fat/calorie ratio that leaves me full for a while.

However, I might consider taking along a low fat string cheese stick and/or some almonds. Protein without sugar will stabilize your blood sugar better and help you have more stamina and control later in the day.

Strictly natural. Fruits and vegetables. Anything manufactured is going to have too many calories and not be good enough for you. I'm not sure this is best in terms of calories and fat, but I am addicted to peanuts. Plain peanuts, unsalted. For lunch I always include about 2/3s cup of peanuts. I also eat about 2-3 pieces of fruit, and have some iced tea. That's it. Read the label and make sure they don't have more than 5% sodium. I got some "unsalted" peanuts that were 8% sodium one time, and they tasted wierd. Good luck.

Stay away from the granola bars, they are packed with sugar and wont fill you up. Anything healthy (fruit, vegetables, low-fat crackers, tuna) will fill you up fast and give you the energy needed.
