I have heard of it being done before, and I read the bucket and it says let it cure for 90 days. What happens if you don't wait 90 days? Does it peel off? Crack off? Polar bears die?

A couple of days is fine. I usually don't wait that long. I've never had a problem with peeling cracking or dead polar bears.

they paint over it all the time on new houses! i know that they take a long time to build, but it's not because they are waiting for the joint compound to "cure". all that i would give it is 24-48 hours after the last coat, and just maybe spot prime the compound before you prime the whole wall or ceiling. that is the only place that i have ever encountered any problems due to the compound sucking up the paint since it's so porous. then just apply two top coats of finish paint. good luck.

Are you sure it said 90 days?.....maybe 90 minutes or at the most 90 hours...but 90 days<<< I don't know of any product that requires that long.

I let it dry 48 hours, prime it (paint primer) and then paint it. Just so. None of my joints have ever even thought about peeling or cracking.
