The King James Version of the Bible often translates Spirit as Ghost. It does not mean ghost as is the spirit of some human being that has died and is roaming around the earth causing trouble. The Holy Ghost is actually another name for God. Holy meaning set apart, separate, dedicated to a specific purpose. God as Spirit is Holy because there is none like him. Who is like God? He is apart from all others, distinct, set apart.

The way that ghost is commonly used in American English
is referenece to a haunting spirit. Biblically this cannot be a dead person. But rather a ghost such as a haunted house type ghost would actually be a manifestation of a fallen angel / demon. The Bible talks a lot about these as principalities and powers and evil spirits. Jesus and his desicples cast out a number of these from people. The Bible speaks of these as unclean spirits. Demons/ evil spirits are enemies of God. They are not Holy, not set apart for God.

Angels are created beings like people are. But they are different than people. They are in one of two camps either they are submitted to God and serve him or they are part of the 1/3 that rebelled against God and are now his enemies and ours as well. In the end these fallen angels will be put into a permenant place of judgement called the lake of fire.

Ghost in the bible can also refer to the spirit of man. As in Genesis 25:8 in the Old English of the King James version, which says 'Then Abraham gave up the ghost.' Meaning, he died. This is not meaning ghost like evil spirit/demon. It simple is the old way of saying spirit.

The manifestation of ghosts or evil spirits is a very real thing. Jesus came to pay the price for people's rebellion against him. You see just as the one third of the angels rebelled so the human race rebelled. The first people did this and people ever since have been subject to the rule of evil, including demons. When Jesus died he made it possible to be freed from the power of the evil one.

A word to the wise without Jesus there is no deliverence from
evil ghosts/spirits. If you think you are have a problem being harassed by these ghosts, CRY OUT to Jesus!

Note the following activities create a kind of invitation for the powers of darkness / evil spirits to really take hold: going to fortune tellers, doing drugs, witchcraft of any kind, horror movies, many fantasy games that have curses and sorcerers and the like, ouiji boards, occult activities, demon worship, and so on. If you don't feel right about an activity ask Jesus who is God to give you wisdom and then obey Jesus. He came to give us real life and to set us free. Satan and the other demons kill, steal and destroy. The Bible says Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Who would you rather be subject to?

People who die either go to a Spirit Paradise or Spirit Prison. As far as I can tell, the spirits of the dead do not stay on earth haunting people. However when Satan was cast out of heaven he took along with him 1/3 of the angels or spirits that were in heaven, and these are as evil spirits or servants of satan that he uses to tempt and deceive people. I am sure many of these disguise themselves as spirits of dead relatives with the intent to deceive.

There is also the Holy Ghost, but a better translation would be the Holy Spirit. There are also angels of God, but I do not consider these good Ghosts in any sense. I know of two sound minded people who have seen and conversed with angels of God.

Ghosts are disembodied human souls. The witch of Endor summoned up the ghost of Samuel. When the disciples first saw the resurrected Jesus they thought he was a ghost. He told them that ghosts do not have flesh as he had. He encouraged them to touch him and even ate a piece of fish before them to prove he was not a ghost.

We don't know exactly why ghosts exist. It is generally thought that they are spirits who are trapped in this realm and have not moved on.

ghosts are not evil angels...... oh my

There are many theories on them why they are here, one is that their death was so tramatic that the do not know they are dead. anthoer is that they are bound to a place or an object even a person, I heard a story where a ghost was visiting an elderly woman allegedly it was her husband. Maybe they feel as though they still have something to do here. It's too hard to know why, one day we will know but unfortunatly we will not be able to tell why ourselves...

Ghosts, according to the Bible, are a tool of Satan. They are spirits (demons) he uses to accomplish his purpose - UNBELIEF! A Christian (believer ) is not subject to the the demon force of Satan. Get to church and pay attention!

dont believe everything the bible says. Its not a manual everything is just to be trasnlated in to the way you look at things. yes there is ghost/spirits believe it or not. Its not the way movies make it seem but there is a force or spirit that we cant see with our eyes but there is something out of the normal out there.
