Do anything you want, anything , then beg forgiveness and you're good to go.
that is so contary to what the bible teaches, and what we believe.
examples:
Hbr 10:26 ¶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Romans 6:1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
we are NOT to pratice sin as a life style, and do not promote such.

rlrose63...that's sad to hear, they must have never had Godly sorrow and repentance only worldly, I'd question their salvation.

Excellent question! I've been wondering the same thing! We DON'T believe that way. In fact, when we do sin, we feel so awful about it, we try extra hard not to repeat it or even come close to repeating it. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our wrong-doing.
Those who don't believe in God, have no idea how God's Holy Spirit is actually living within us. But it is and it's both a comfort and a joy ... unless we sin, then the Holy spirit lays such a heavy guilt on us that we can't wait to repent! And that's a GOOD thing because we want to always please God in everything we do!
God bless you, Busy Bee!

I can't tell you how many times I've seen atheists on here ask a question that goes something like this:
"A good, law abiding woman, who gives to charity, helps her old neighbor in with her groceries, etc., gets murdered. She was an atheist. Her murderer, while in prison, becomes a Christian. Which one goes to heaven?"
And, I can't tell you how many times the majority of the answers to such questions are "faith, not works" or "yes, sorry, but the only way into heaven is through Jesus" blah blah blah.
Gee, I don't know why I have the silly idea that Christians think they can do anything they want, then beg for forgiveness and they're good to go.

Do you or do you not believe in the saving grace of Jesus Christ? If you do, do you believe there are any circumstances where one becomes 'un-saved'? I doubt that most rational non-christians believe that christians think they can do anything they want, but if they're still 'saved' does it not follow that their sins will be forgiven them, regardless of what they've done? Its like the old mass-murderer deathbed conversion question: if somebody commits horrible crimes and then repents and is 'saved' moments before their death, they go to heaven, do they not? Whereas an unbeliever who lives a good life and does not accept Jesus as their personal lord and savior will burn for eternity, correct?

Well I guess it depends on which flavour of christian you are. I have certainly been told countless times out here what you quoted from me to be true.
Anyone remember any of the gandhi threads, many christians made it very clear that acepting christ is all that is needed to get into heaven, since Gandhi did not he was in hell.
Look around out here it seems to be a pretty prevelent theme. I know not all christians believe in this which make the "faith" itself even more entertaining. Can't you chrstians agree on anything?
Christians believe such a wide ranging spectrum of nonsense that it really is hard to know where most stand. Many cherry pick what them want out of the OT then ignore the rest saying jesus has done away with it.
Some accept evolution some don't, some think the world is old some don't, some think salvation alone will get you to heaven some don't. If I asked 10 christians 1 question I think I would get 11 answers, which seems odd since jesus only taught one way.

way back, MANY MANY years ago, the Roman Catholic Church SOLD forgivenesses, called "indulgences" when they were short on cash. The very rich could even buy forgiveness for a sin not yet committed. Martin Luther saw this as destruction of the Church from within, so he posted his document, "The 95 Theses", suggestions for change, on the church door. This sparked the period of major changes within the Church, known as The Reformation. Unfortunately, some still think that by showing up every Sunday and dropping a few pieces of silver into the collection plate, they can "buy" forgiveness for their consciences.

I often wonder at some point that there was no true repentence... I mean there have been things that I have actively worked on with God, but when you say it and don't mean I believe that God see's that... I think it's between the individual and God and that He knows our heart. I believe we need to leave it up to God to do the forgiving. After all there are many examples of people in the Bible who just couldn't get it down.!!! LOL

because that's how it seems to work in practice for some christians. i'm totally willing to believe that you're not like that, but if you're going to claim that christianity makes people perfect (another thing that you may or may not believe), well what do you think my counter example is going to be?

Actually it is hard to know what you think because sometimes you use the OT to prove your point, then if OT is used to prove a point against you, you say that you don't have to follow OT.
The same thing goes for the NT, you pick the parts you want to follow and disregard the rest.
So, tbh, I really don't know what to think about Christians anymore.

I don't need your cryptic book's paragraphs, give me real life examples how people are actually living the way they are supposed to. No matter what that book says, it's only paper and far too easy for people to ignore, and yes some act like they can do what they want and just be forgiven later.
If your point is to make a statement, then you really aren't asking a question.

For me, it's because I've KNOWN believers who said that to me... "I can do this... god will forgive me." And then there are the mass murderers who then ask forgiveness and VOILA, they go to heaven. They are told all they have to do is ask forgiveness.... and some do on a regular basis. Not all... but some.
