This is interesting, isn't it?
easy though, You don't know or you just like stupid answers from unintelligent people? that's kind mean : )
Death is natural but murder is a sin. The efinitions of murder are basically that an unprovoked killing has occurred. If you execute a man who killed a man you are upholding rightful law. If you kill a man who stole your car you are wrong.
If you kill a man who is holding your child hostage you are defending the innocent. If you kill a man who has returned your child after experiencing remorse you are wrong, though he should be severly punished for what he has done. Any man who has experienced true remorse for immorrality will accept his deserved punishment.
1.
*Murder* is wrong but judgement is justified.
Did god not aid his people in the conquering of cities? On either side of a battle there are right and wrongs. There are those who follow blindly and those who know and believe the reasons for war. In many if not all wars one side is driven by and immoral purpose, though, the strength of an army is simply a large group of people that love their country(because it is their's), convinced with very little information that they represent the "right side". In war you may be wearing the name of a country that fights for the wrong things but if you let God guide you, your fight under the name of your country will be blessed in some way. God will lead you away from the things that are not of him and you will make the choice to follow him or not. War is waged because we are all human and those who are wrong do not stop to think they are and those who are right can't reason with them. This is not country by country, rather, person to person.
2. and some of 3.
War will be unnavoidable so long as there is sin ignorance and pride in this world. War as an act of defending self or the weak is not wrong at all. The real acts of war must be dealt with on a personal level and do not have much consistancy at a global level.
3. If you must fight a member of your religion there is only one thing you can do, and this honestly goes for every "army" you come up against, pray for them.

1. No. Killing is permitted in the case of defending oneself, ones family, ones property, etc.
Murder, the taking of someone's life for a reason that is not permitted, is not allowed.
2. Killing is not wrong in war, if the war is for one of the permissable reasons. For instance, a group of people planning to come and steal your homes, your land, your livestock, etc. and kill the people in your towns, etc. yeah I think war is justified then.
3. This happens a lot all over the world. Usually there is some detail of each side's religion that is different than the other's, even if they have the same overall religion - many times this alone is the cause of the battle in the first place.
Is this wrong? Yeah, in my opinion it is.

I am really quite shocked. I did not think it would prove to be all that interesting. Now that I have read some of the answer; I would say more sad than interesting. From the mass answers that war is self defense it is obvious that this must be a teaching. And to see that they justify with the Old Testament and leave aside the New turn the other check. Can they find no other way to settle their difference than to kill one another.

From a judeo-christian point of view, no. Read your bible and you will see God orders his "chosen people" to go out and kill and make war all the time.
What if the opposition being killed are members of your religion? Not a problem. History is full of wars where both sides were of the same religion, and both sides felt confident God was on their side.
Isn't religion ridiculous?

The 6th commandment when translated "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is always mistranslated. The Hebrew word there is for murder, not killing. Seems the same, but are not.
Murder is criminal killing, selfish, non-government sanctioned taking of life.
To further establish this, immediately after this commandment in Exodus 21, God says that the government must kill anyone who commits murder.
So, murder is always wrong, a sin.
Killing in self-defense, in war, or by the government in captial punishment is not. At least according to the Bible which is the framework you were referencing.

War is war. But what goes on today is not war. Inner city kids are killing for profit. Governments are declaring war for political idealism, And Muslams are killing each other and others not of their religion just because they like it or of false belief of having higher status in heaven.

Wrong, but very necessary. There will always be war, there will always be death. It's human nature. All it takes is one person to get pissy and talk a bunch of people into thinking the same thing. Someone hits me, I'm going to hit back. Must be the marine daughter in me LOL

1. Yes always including capital punishment.
2. War is wrong. It's ok for the the leaders to say lets go to war when it is not themselves having to put their life on the line. They can sit back safe and comfy knowing others are being killed because of them.
3. Spiritualists don't start wars over their beliefs full stop.

Taking a life is wrong. But in the name of religion is blasphemy.
War is man-made; life is god-made.
Man cannot create but convert - god creates and gives the brain to convert (to make god-made silica to the man-made brain in the computer).
It is like a jeweler destroying a Picasso.
The paradox is that people are killed In the name of religion which was originally meant to save humanity.

Killing is wrong, inasmuch as right and wrong exist. War is also wrong, including killing. It makes no difference what the religions of the killer or the person who is killed might be.
