if a private citizen can own and operate a conventional style hulled, non-nuclear powered submarine that was privately owned, that is formly US or UK naval submarine, to be used as an executive vessel for an American company? Any helpful links would be appreciated! Price is not a problem.

Thank you in advance for your time!

All of the diesel boats the USN had have been either turned into museums, sold to foreign governments, destroyed as targets or scrapped. The last of them Tench class.

Here is a listing of all Tench class boats and their last known disposition.

Perhaps you can negotiate the repatriation of one of them. If so I would be very happy. My father served on several of these boats including the USS Pickerel. He was in her last crew and it was also his last boat. I own the last flag she flew as a submarine fit for duty.

I'll do some more research and let you know what else I find.

By the way, there are plenty of diesel boats for sale built in the former Soviet Union.....but I'm guessing you're not intersted in them.......

Neiman Marcus is offering a submarine for about $750,000 in their Christmas catalog for 2007. I know that a web site named Sovietski dot com had a former Soviet sub for sale. Both are non-nuclear.
Hope this helps.

yes, but with limitations. You would need to contact your local state department in charge of vessel registration. The U.S> however dismantles their subs and have sold of or destroyed all non-nuclear subs. The U.K. most likely the same. Most South American countries have purchased them all up. You may however be able to purchase de-classified plans on building one. You would need to contact DRMO (drmo.mil)
