I've found that I have SERIOUSLY bad short-term memory. I will literally find myself standing in the middle of a room without being able to remember what I got up for. I have a hard time remembering the names of celebrities, historical facts (big problem on tests!), things like that...It's gotten really worse in the past years...

this is a really big problem because my exam will be next week... monday!

help!

Sounds like stress. Stress is a systemic problem, it drives your heart rate wild, make you gain weight and mess with your memory. Make sure that you are eating right, sleeping 6-8 hours a night. Good Luck on your test!

You are too young to be having any Alzheimer's symptoms. I saw my doctor yesterday for the same problem and he had a couple of thoughts: No Alzheimers, first off. He said memory loss can be from stress, some medications (such as urinary tract infections) and from lack of sleep, etc. I have sleep apnea and for 2 months have slept with a machine called a CPap and my sleeping habits are better, thus my memory should not get any worse. So, you might fall into one of these (or more) categories. My guess would be that this will go away as soon as the tests are over. It wouldn't hurt to see a Neurologist. Talk to your parents or someone willing to listen - maybe your family physician. I'm wondering what your grades are and if you are pushing yourself too much - expecting A's. Just try to sit quietly before school and ask God to help you through the day and to help you do your best. That's all you can expect is to do your best! Good luck Monday!

Relax! The exam is on your mind and everything else has sort of taken the back seat. It would help if you start re-phrasing it ...think of it as being FOCUSSED on your exam! It also helps to take down notes/scribble when you study. It sure helped me each n every time. Good luck!
