Don't buy them unless they are on sale then it is ok. When they are on sale I stock up. It does suck that you're paying more for less but when you have bad willpower like me you need to be able to grab for a snack, eat the whole bag, and actually end up losing weight. I replaced my mid-day snack and late night snack with these things and I lost 3 pounds in one week. It keeps me satisfied and still lose weight. But if you don't want to spend the money then don't simple as that.

Some people can get a big bag and measure, but some people would just take a bag of whatever size and finish it regardless of the size. Those are the people who should buy the snack packs. Also sometimes people grab a bag to take with them on the run and will eat whatever they take.

Its all about convenience. I have done both with the goldfish crackers, made my own 100 cal bags and bought the premade ones. Mine got stale before I ate them.
I buy the sweet stuff for when I have a sugar craving. I can eat them and not feel too guilty but if I have to grab a bag of cookies and measure them out? forget it, ill just eat them.

Thanks for the heads up! Some things still have "bad" ingredients in them. Having "100 Calorie!" stickers on packages doesn't make the ingredients any healthier; it just means that the serving size contains 100 calories. (I had to help explain that to a friend of mine just the other day. She was claiming that she could eat as many cookies as she wanted because they were in 100 calorie packs. We were quick to correct her.)

Yes, it's a waste of money. But if time is precious, some people will pay for the convenience...just like precut veggies, fruits and cheeses and things like that. I'm with you - I rebag them myself if I'm taking some to work for lunch, etc.
I think the purpose to the 100 calorie pack madness is simply MARKETING! The food suppliers obviously make more profit selling the "individual serving" sizes. I'm sure someone will tell you it deals with obesity, etc., but if someone wants to lose weight, they'll learn proper portion sizes and limit their calories without the extra expense of 100 calorie packs!
I enjoyed your question!

They're designed for people that eat compulsively and don't stop eating until they reach the bottom of the bag or are stuffed. If you have the self control (or don't have an obsessiveness neurosis) to measure things out, then yes, it is cheaper to buy the big bag and measure things out yourself.

The point is to make the companies richer because American's love to over eat and we fall for marketing like this instead of just eating right on our own. Bad for your pocketbook and the environment, good for corporate america!
