It is polite as well as smart to leave identities vague enough that the person you are discussing cannot be identified. So absolutely no full names. First names are more acceptable, but still risky since people who know your user name and group affiliation (school, work, etc) can make the connection. Try to get by with no names, initials, or fake names. Like I mentioned earlier, this is not only polite and shows respect for one's privacy, but it also offers you some protection against accusations of libel (written defamation) if that ever becomes an issue.

Unless the person is a public & well-known public figure, you should never post a person's full name on a public website or blog. It is permissible to use a first name (no last names), stage name, or pseudonym ...

It's best and safer to use nicknames ie, not your real name.
