Ok my mom loves to watch murder shows and dateline or 20/20 if it has bad stuff on it about murder and rape. I asked her curiously why she likes to watch that. She got all defensive and said "Oh so you think I'm a bad and evil person for watching this?! Everyone else watches this!!!!!!!" I said no I don't! and I said that the question is the same as "what's your favorite color" it's a get to know you question. She disagreed.
What's wrong with what I said? I'm curious. That's why I asked.

she got all defensive becasause there is something wrong with her..and no theres nothing wrong with a simple question like that...dont know what her problem is

I'm not sure there is anything wrong with your question, but your Mom is obviously sensitive about the issue. Best to avoid it. She will eventually figure out that you were just curious. She probably feels like its a guilty pleasure....in other words, she could be doing something else or something more educational then watching rape and murder on tv, so thats why she is defensive about it.

Your mom was defensive because she's embarrassed at being put on the spot as to why she is filling her head up with drivel.
Its not up to you to police your mother. Mind your own business.

She may have gotten defensive about it, because something like that had happened in her past.
That, or she is embarrassed to watch something like that, and she's unsure if it's socially acceptable to.
