So the police showed up at my house today and I was not home. They were looking for me and I believe it is because of my neighbors file complaints against me for driving fast. I have a loud exhaust on my car so it sound like i'm going really fast, but i do drive well over the speed limit. Tommorow I have to go to the police to talk with them. I'm worried about any charges that may come against me or If i'll lose my linesne or even worst get arrested.

I live on a windy road with houses sitting little far off the road. There are very few children that I have ever seen.

The speed limit in residential areas in Nebraska is 25 mph. I've driven by at 20 mph and had some housewife shake her fist at me and tell me to slow down. When some lady's little kids are playing in the front yard then no speed is slow enough for them. Those "Keep Kids Alive - Drive 25!" signs should be replaced with "Keep Kids Alive - Be a Good Parent and Don't Let Them Play in the Street". Suburban couples are obsessed with buying houses with huge backyards so their kids have room to play. Then they move in and their kids spend 90% of their outdoor playtime in the front yard, driveway, or street. Ignore them. Short of the cop catching you himself, he can't do crap about it except tell you there's been complaints.

There is a time and a place for everything. A neighborhood is not a place to drive fast, or be loud. That is why they complain. That is why there are laws.

So maybe get a cut-off for your exhaust if you really need to be loud sometimes.

Relax, and be neighborly. See what is going on around you. Then if you get someplace to drive fast, go hard.
Better to be unnoticed and left alone. The more you show off the more trouble you attrack. That's a rule of human existance.

Well the best thing to do is go down to find out what they wanted, it may be something totally different maybe they just need a statement from you for something, But if you know it is from you driving to fast just go there and just answer the questions and make sure you don't lose your temper because if you lose your temper they may fine you or even arrest you but they probably only want to ask you things and maybe give you a warning unless that has happened already then they may fine you this time, but in the future you may want to slow down in your neighborhood so they wont have anything to complain about and if there are children playing in the neighborhood then PLEASE SLOW DOWN you may end up with a bigger problem.

They need proof you were speeding such as recording you speeding on their dashboard mounted cameras
in the squad car, your neighbour cannot tell how fast you were going she/he can just say fast, which is not good enough for them to bring charges against you or take you to court,i think its something else because there isnt any proof unless you crashed into another car or something else How did they notify you of their visit? and wasnt there any brief explanation of what they want to see you for~i would phone them first before going all the way there, also you have different legal rights if you walk into a police station at their request it may be taken as a sign of admitting your guilty ,im not sure if its a good idea to just go into the police station?least not until you get more info first and possibly some legal advice first

I think you meant to say well under the speed limit, didn't you? They may just issue you a citation for the loud exhaust and you will have to get a new or better muffler.

Maybe if you stopped trying to pretend that you're Vin Diesel from Fast and the Furious, your neighbors wouldn't complain

Honestly, he could sue you for the exhaust
because of nuisance
