Sounds like scratching from allergies or fleas.
Gently wash kitty in a mild shampoo, and observe for fleas...if there's fleas, a good wash in a flea shampoo, then a trip to the vet for a good quality flea control is in order.
2 of my kitties have BAD skin allergies to fleas, and look just like this when left alone.

Usually that's a sign of flea allergy dermatitis (an allergic reaction to flea bites), though it could be one of several other skin conditions.
Take your cat to the vet for a checkup and some medicine to help with the reaction, and for some good flea control medication such as Advantage, Frontline or Revolution. It's possible for even indoor cats to get fleas, and you may never see them - cats are fastidious groomers and will often consume fleas while grooming themselves, so it's common for a pet to get fleas without the person seeing any fleas around the house until they get really bad.
Stay away from grocery-store brands of flea control - they can be harmful to some sensitive cats.

Sounds like either bad complexion or allergies to fleas or litter or something around your cat. You need to have a Vet look at it,
at the very least.

Could be acne. Cleaning his face would help. You could try just warm water first, see if it helps. If not, you could try some peroxide. But they can get infected, then you will need an ointment from the vet.
I think it could also be ringworm or some other parasite. Might be best to just have a vet check it.

It could also be tics, they are wart like lumps just under the skin and can cause irritation and skin problems you should see a vet if they dont clear up soon..

it probably has fleas. they've probably been scratching themselves too much. you should probably see a vet, because it could be something completely different, and dangerous for your cat.

He probably has gotten into a fight. Mine used to get those all the time. They'll heal on their own.
