You could also simply extend your kindness. Like if you know some elderly people such as neighbors, ask them if they need any help with anything. Ex: mow their laws/shovel snow (whatever the time of year), do errands for them.
Find something that really interests you and use it to help the community. Like if you're an artist you can go to the town hall and offer to create a painting on the side of a building that shows some kind of community inspiration.

Most churches have many social service organizations.
Otherwise join one of the community service organizations:
Rotary, Kinsmen, Lions, Optimist, etc.
Or go to your civic or community centre & inquire.
Look in the local phone-book for volunteer organizations.
Contact your charitable fund-raising drive.
Check with community newspapers.

Volunteer at a local meals on wheels or old folks home. Ask around the local churches if anyone needs help with groceries, or transportation. if you are able to drive and have transportation. You might cout yards for elderly that can't afford or do it themselves.

Check out your local churches. The holidays are coming. They will have opportunities and need every set of hands available.
