Try to get straight Ambien. The other stuff has a time-release coating. If you want to get to sleep quickly, soak the Ambien CR (Controlled Release) in a teaspoonful of lukewarm water for a while until the time-release coating is dissolved. Pleasant dreams.

You shouldn't stay in bed for more than 1/2 an hour if you can't sleep. Get up and do something for 15 minutes then lay back down. Maybe you need a higher dose of the Ambien. And it only works for 8 hours so you should be ok by 7.

Ambien CR and Ambien, along with most other currently available sleep aids are sensitive to stomach digestion. Big heavy pasta dinners will affect the absorption of the compound. Fatty food digest faster than proteins... the PI states that you should give dinner at least 3 hours to digest prior to taking Ambien/CR. Most likely... you just haven't digested you dinner yet and the absorption of the molecule is taking longer.

If you really want to sleep and have Ambien/CR be effective... try and eat a small meal, low in carbs and fat and give the dinner at least 3 hours to digest. Take your Ambien/CR about 30 minutes before you get into bed and make sure that you are ready to go to sleep.

Good Luck!!!

No, it's supposed to be a temporary side effect. I know Ambien CR makes me tired all day, and I don't remember if I get up at night. But it all goes away if I stop taking it for a couple days.

ambien is a very funny drug. one time you can take it and feel fine and not goto sleep....another time you can take it and fall flat on your face into a bowl of froot loops sitting at your computer desk as happened to me once.

if it's been 2 hours since you took it, it's prolly not gonna do anything...this time. next time, try not to have any froot loops around or you just might find yourself face-down in them.

hope this helps.

Tylenol PM works for me. You sure feel groggy the next day though. Masterbation always helps me; clears my mind.
