I don't believe it.......
The reason is because religion has to do with the way one lives their life on a day to day basis. A religion, with their actions, that will teach them discipline, respect, humbility, rightousness, balance, and virtue etc. Religion calls for actions in life to learn and understand to be/become all of the above.
Spirituality on the other hand is the connection one finds in their life that pertains to who they are on the inside and can identify with natures nuture. When a person opens themselves up on the inside in any way to listen, feel, and watch all that is in their lifes surroundings; it is than that they grow spiritually inside and because of following religion it is also on the outside.
When a person who travels a religious path, it is something that they learn along the way that religion is needed to begin and grow into spirituality. They know what it takes to be spiritual at any level because to understand what ever it is that they may be seeking in spirituality, being religious will surely open these doors for them.
Can not have one without the other.

Yeah, anyone can. Spirituality/Soulfulness does not stem from religion, it's more of the other way around. Think of Buddhists, they're some of the more spiritual and soulful people that I can think of, and they're atheistic in nature. Not braggin' or anything but I'm atheist and I am spiritual as well....so not having a religion does not make you nonspiritual Hope this helps!! ^_^

When did "Religion" become a bad word?
I'm baffled at how the word "religion" is almost always used in a derogatory way lately. When did that happen? It reminds me of how, a long time ago, the word "gay" used to mean "happy". (It still does in a dictionary.) But now if you tell someone, "gee, you sure are gay today", they might think you're calling them a homosexual.
Words have been getting twisted up a lot in modern culture. No wonder people don't communicate very well.
The Merriam-Webster defines "religion" as:
- : the service and worship of God or the supernatural: commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
- : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
Sounds okay to me. Any worshippers of ANY religion have a problem with that definition? I believe that people who say "religion" in a negative way are the "do-your-own-thing" type of people. They "personalize" God, and forget that we are a human family, and like all families, we have our traditions: They forget that families have special days, special little things they do AS a family, and so does the family of God.
I love my Catholic faith, I love my Catholic religion, and I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Religion is so crowded with middle men, many of which are taking advantage of people for purely secular purposes, that a better question would be could one find any trace of spirituality in religion.

forgetting religion is first step of becoming spiritual person.moral and ethical norms are set by society you live.you have to follow that for not offending anybody's false superstitions.
after you let go religion, person starts to understand what's soul, what's truth.but again these things are very confusing.enlightenment is something when you completely dissolve your personality.

Yes. Even atheists express awe of nature, without giving its phenomena a human face.
