Sounds like she is depressed and misses you terribly. When you get back home spend as much time as you could with her
and buy her a few toys to play with. The next time you anticipate being away for a while, leave a piece of clothing that has your scent on it where she sleeps that way it won't be as bad for her.

she probably misses your smell and your voice..i would see if someone could find a shirt of yours that smells like you for her to sleep with..or call a couple times a day and talk to her..sounds silly but it might help..but 3 weeks is a long time, and as old as she is, a little abandonment might not be great for her health..hey nothing is the same as a parents love!

sounds like she just misses you terribly...I would just keep calling, and letting her hear your voice until you get back, and even if she is with someone with access to a personal belonging of yours (such as a shirt, something with your "scent") have the person retrieve that and let the dog sleep with it...it may help with seperation anxieties.

im sorry to hear about you leaving your dog - i know how you feel- i lost my black lab and the day he passed away i hugged him and told him i loved him but a few hours later i found him dead.. i think your dog knows that you had to do what was best for her at that time and im sure she loves you alot and one day you may be able to see her again

She's probably confused about why you aren't there but when you return, she's probably treat you just the same as before.
