I think any time we are connected enough with ourselves to admit our shortcomings it creates an environment within ourselves that makes change easier. I don't think it matters whether we confess it to our pillow or pillow case.

Don't be sarcastic. You sound like you have doubts about God's existence or something. We must confess our faults to God and if necessary to each other. The Holy Spirit is given to us tohelp us stop sinning. It is Jesus that cleanses us. That is why we should devote some time to studying His instructions in the gospels.
