John 5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
John 10:30 I and the Father are one."
John 20:28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

I believe that Christians consider Christ to be a part 0f God and thus consider worshiping Christ the same as worshiping God. In general I think Christians think of Christ as a liaison between mankind and God. I guess the bible does tell us to worship God in several different places.

It is the teachings and message that speak for itself when it comes to Jesus Christ. Out of Faith, believing in the Word of God for people is to also believe that Jesus' teachings and message come from God Himself.
It is His teachings and His message that Jesus Christ's followers more or less worship. To worship Jesus Christ is not mentioned at all in the written word, but it is just the way it is when His teachings and message are practiced and followed. His message and teachings are a form of worship for His followers because His followers will use Him as one who guides in religion and spirituality.
Jesus Christ's name is attached to all that He brought to this earth in this light because when people follow, practice His teachings and His message they are giving credit to where credit is due.
Not only this, but it is in the written word that Jesus Christ is the Image of God. When God's Image is Jesus Christ, that is one way of saying that Jesus Christ is God. To look at God's Image: is to look at God Himself.

We worship God, Jesus is his only begotten Son, we love him, he is our king, he is the king of kings, he is the truth, the light and the way no one goes to the Father unless they go through Jesus first.

Try again...
The directive of scripture is clear:
Heb 1:6 God’s first and only Son is over all things. When God brings him into the world, he says, “Let all of God’s angels worship him.”
