I would look for the tamarind pulp in any Asian store. Let your fingers do the walking and call them to see if they carry it without driving there first.

The way I like my cabbage best is to cut the slice it all the way through on each side of the heart. Then, using one of the two outer sections (or if you want use all but the heart), place the sliced side down and slice it all the way through as you would an onion - into very thin strips. Then cut those strips into 3 pieces. Then I cook some onions and some bacon cut into thin strips width-wise. Saute the onions and bacon until the onions are translucent and the bacon is partially cooked (you will use no more than two slices of bacon that have been cut). Take off all but 1 tablespoonful of the grease in the pan and add the cabbage. Stir everything together and keep cooking until the cabbage has wilted. Season with black pepper. This is really yummy.

Cabbage is rich in fiber and Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Vitamin B. It can also lower the risk of various forms of cancer. Also 1 cup of cabbage only contains 15 calories. Cabbage boost the immune systems ability to product more antibodies.

The bacon is the only thing in the above recipe that isn't very good for you so if you want to really be healthy, remove the bacon and use olive oil to saute the onions and cabbage. But the flavor of the bacon is very nice in it.

Raw cabbage is good for you.

COOKED CABBAGE

Cut up 2 pounds of cabbage. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar or 2 packages of Sweet & Low and 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Cook for 45 minutes until done. You can add 1 or 2 slices of bacon if you wish.

try looking at indian grocery stores if there are any in your area. if not you may have to order if online.

hope that helps

Try an Asian store for the pulp or a specialty spice store.
Cabbage is SOOOO good for you! Cook in butter for about 10-20 minutes depending on how done you want it, tender crisp to mushy. Salt as needed. Or add to your favorite veggie soup for added flavor, add in the last 1/2 hour of cooking.
Cabbage is in the category of veggies that help reduce cholesterol.

Cabbage is really good for you., I would say you would want to boil it for 20 minutes or so, but try this recipe:

Thai Salad

2 packages Ramen noodles – crushed – do not use seasoning packet
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup slivered almonds
½ cup (I stick) butter/margarine
Sauté all above until golden, set aside to cool

Chop 1 head Napa cabbage
Chop 1 bunch green onions

Dressing: Mix together:
1 cup oil
1 cup sugar
½ cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients just before serving
