I don't know. Honestly.
In actuality, we're all on that road. And we're all going to die somewhere along on that road. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever really made it to the end before they died. (I could, of course, be wrong about that.)
If he dies without Jesus in his life, then yes, we believe he will not go to heaven. This is because of our interpretation of Jesus' words in the bible (John 14:6 and Matt 10:32-33). If he denies Jesus, then Jesus will deny him. It's pretty much that simple.

When Adam sinned the curse came upon all of the earth. Sin is passed down through the seed of man, and therefore all are considered under sin and lost.
Jesus was not created by the seed of man, but was conceived by the spoken word of God. Therefore Jesus was not under the curse of the law and not considered a sinner. He did no sin, and therefore when He died on the Cross, He died for anyone that would accept what He did for them.
People cannot earn their own salvation, but must receive the salvation that Jesus bought for them. Once a person gets to the age that they can understand, they must receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. if they do not then they are still lost, if they receive Jesus then spiritually they will be born again and become a new creation in Christ Jesus.
There is no other way besides Jesus.

Good question.
To clarify first, the good works one has done will not save him, because it’s not man’s works that save, but God’s grace [grace, by its definition, is not something that can be earned]. No matter that he was nearly perfect, such a person cannot enter Heaven where there is absolutely no sin. Otherwise, the place will cannot be heaven.
Now regarding your question, if he were on a sincere search to find God, I believe he will find Him before his earthly life is completely extinguished. Either God will extend his last breaths, or will be found in those last breaths. God promised, “Those who seek Me earnestly WILL find Me” (Prov 8:17). God knows who was really earnest. The One who appears would be Jesus Himself, because He is the Savior.

No, this person would not go to hell, especially if they have a good heart, God sees the heart and the attempt. It is only when a soul rejects God that the soul goes into "Limbo", not hell. When a soul goes into Limbo they stay there until they decide to go to the light, to God.
When Christians say you will die without Jesus it is from the old, old, old days when Christians tried to make people "conform" by instillling fear into non-Christians.
God loves everybody, and even murderers, sad to say. It is up to the individual to accept God. God NEVER says, "I don't want you". You have to want God.

hell is a false teaching..if you research the translation of the original greek and hebrew scriptures, the word hell doesn't even exist. it was a term translators could use in exchange. the bible holds many figurative depictions but shouldn't all be taken literal. and it doesn't hold consistent, because the bible states..the penalty for sin is death...the day a man dies his thoughts do perish...those are only a few found in the holy scriptures. and ask yourself this, why would a loving god sent anyone to an everlasting torment for the relatively short human life span? he is a lover of justice as the bible puts it. how unjust would that be? and since i could remember, god was never in cahoots with the devil to arrange a place of torment for mankind. as Ecclesiastes says "they are coming from the dust, and to the dust they shall all return."

It's hard to judge who will go to hell and who will go to heaven, but honestly, just because they're good hearted and nearly perfect doesn't mean they will go to heaven. They need to not only believe in God, but accept God into their hearts and believe that God sent his son to die for you.

I used to be a Christian. Christians believe that the only reason you are alive is to find Jesus, and to believe he is your personal savior and live one version or another of a Christian lifestyle. They believe there is no other reason for being alive, and nothing else has any importance at all unless you are "saved" by your belief in Jesus. All the good people in the world who aren't Christians, Christian believe go straight to hell when they die, no exceptions, no excuses, period. It's a sad and arrogant way to be, but that's their belief on the subject.

I don;t know what my religion Islam says about that but if I were God , I wouldn't take that person to hell. I would take all people to heaven. Nobody is really bad. Some people may behave in a bad way but this doesn't make them bad. We all have hearts and feelings and we are all able to tolerate at some point.
Peace

Only God knows the person's heart...but...the day the person began to believe and then started a personal journey, I personally believe that the One whom brought that awareness to that person was God, so...... He was covered. :)
