I saw the footage. She bit him. That's resisting arrest and assault. If she bit me, I'd mace her too so she couldn't do it again. Age and gender has nothing to do with it. Don't bite. Don't resist. You won't get sprayed.

She was still resisting and had an arm free. That is hardly restrained, a person isn't restrained until they are in restraints, hence then name restraints. She was combative, and resisting arrest, and pepper spray is within the force continuum. The closed fist might be a little over zealous, he should have just went for the spray. BUT they do it every day and shockingly to white people too. It wasn't because she was black, it was because she was resiting arrest.

First and foremost I'm Black. This isn't a Black or White issue. It's a 15 year girl who for some reason or another thought it was no big deal to first resist arrest, and then subsequently "bite" a police officer. I saw the video. The entire video. He called her "Ma'am." And his exact words were, "Stop resisting, I don't want to hurt you."
Also, what is a 15 year old doing out by herself when it's dark outside? Where is the "parental" control?! Is she raising herself? This isn't a race issue. It's a parental control issue! If that were my little sister my mom would brake her foot off in that little girl's hindparts.

The real question is "Why" do cops arrest minorities for curfew violations. They don't enforce curfews this way in white communities. The officer should have called this girl's mother or drove her home not arrest her. When are minorities going to accept there are two sets of codes: One for whites and one for minorities? Hmmm. Maybe she should be charged as an adult and sentenced to 22 years.

Well, I am not familiar with this particular incident. However, after reading some of these posts, what I am familiar with is my opinion on some of the posts. If she was not restrained proeprly or effectivley, the officer should have done what he needed to do to subdue the situation within reason accoridng to the present circumstances. Now, I am also tied of "persons of color" using their color as an exucse and a crutch. No one cares what color you, or anyone else is. If you are a dumbass, you get treated like a dumbass. Start taking responsibility for oyur actions as a person and not blaming ethnic background for your shortcomings. Just because you are, lets say black, doesn't mean anything. You are who you are regardless of what color you are and it is your responsibility to act like a responsible person. The penalty scale is not adjusted based on color, size, shape, religion, etc. Grow up and quit crying.

i think those of you who haven't watched the video have nothing valid to add to this discussion. watch the order of events, and then comment. if you watch while he was "restraining" her, he had her arm completely twisted up behind her back, then he had one hand on her arm..the other grabbed the front of her jacket and slammed her onto the hood of the car, after he kept twisting her arm, she then bit him..which was wrong, and then he PUNCHED HER IN THE FACE, that cant be part of any training, then she stopped struggling and he still pepper sprayed her..i think she definitely resisted, but u watch the tape and tell me if u want your 15 year old CHILD slammed on the hood of a car by anyone and then punched in the face..that's police procedure?

Restrained does not mean under control. The officers must gain control before the situation is successfully over.

i see the problem with you right off the bat. you are blind. she was never under control.he was still trying to get her to put her hand behind her back. when he started getting her arm turned she bit him.that is a felony.she was asked around 30 times to cooperate. she was ask around 25 times to put her hands behind her.just before biting him she also kicked him.the only person out of control was the girl. if she had cooperated nothing would have happened. he also did not spray her in the face. he sprayed in front of her face which only allows a small mist to her her. she was caught committing 2 felonies in video, biting and kicking.

Another one throwing the race card. It does not matter what race she is. She was not restrained and she bit the officer. She broke the law. End of story.

Already restrained? Did you see the tape? She wasn't restrained. It is actually harder to restrain someone when you are trying not to hurt them. Get a clue.
